MARSHALL — Graveside services for Mrs. Bennie F. Almond, 97, of Marshall, will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013, at Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Bro. Randy Fitzgerald will officiate. The family and friends will have a time of visitation from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Downs Funeral Home. Mrs. Almond passed away January 2, 2013, in Marshall.
Bennie Hammock Almond was born July 25, 1915, in Cass County, Texas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshall. Mrs. Almond was a homemaker and a volunteer in the MHMR and the Food Pantry. She married Elmer Henderson Almond and he preceded her in death in October of 1965.
Mrs. Almond is survived by her son, Bill Almond of Marshall; daughters-in-law, Sandi Almond of Marshall and Patricia Almond of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Marisa Burke and Daniel, Shauna Almond, Kambra Minor, Janina Rice and Matthew, Bryan Almond and Derek Almond; and 12 great- grandchildren.
Mrs. Almond was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Elmer Fletcher Almond in 1994 and Ben Almond in 2012; and a grandson, Rodney Almond.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Robertson, Arthur Bristow, Pete Chochos, Tom Butner and Janssen Maranto.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Summit United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1942, Marshall, TX 75671.
