Bennie Alvarez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 21 to Jul. 22, 2022.
Our beloved Bennie "Moe" Alvarez, Jr., 72 , of Austin, was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, surrounded by family. Bennie is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Alvarez, Sr. and Carrie Alvarez.

Bennie is survived by his sons Everett (Jenny) Alvarez, Benjamin( Deana) Alvarez, and daughter Amanda (Richard) Zavala ; grandchildren, Ashton, Aidan Joseph, KK, Lyla Princeton Alvarez and Arianna Zavala. Brothers: Danny Alvarez, Robert (Jeanette) Alvarez, Pete (Virgie) Alvarez, Mike (Julie) Alvarez, and Joe (Annabelle) Alvarez, Sisters: Janie (Andrew) Saldana, Martha (Curtis ) Campbell, Mary Sue (Pete) Martinez, and Carolyn (Joe) Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.

He wore #9 while playing baseball for over 20 years as a pitcher and a third baseman at Pan Am, with the Bucs, Braves and Chiefs. He loved watching his beloved DALLAS COWBOYS and TEXAS LONGHORNS. He enjoyed spending time with his family over a good meal at Cilantro's and joking with his brothers. Moe was known for being a giving person and had the most forgiving and understanding heart than anyone you ever met. He read his Bible daily and his favorite Scripture was "Psalm 23".

Bennie fought a courageous fight. He endured chemo, radiation, infusions and never complained and had the most positive attitude through it all.

Thank you to Dr. Jennifer Wright and her staff at Texas Oncology for the exceptional care they provided to him. In addition, our brother Robert, sisters Janie and Mary Sue for the unconditional love and support they gave him.

A memorial service will be held August 13, 2022 at 11am , San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave., followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S IH 35, Austin , Texas.

We had some good times Moses. The last 3 years that you lived with me were some of the most enjoyable years of my life . I still remember when you used to kid me when I played slow pitch and you would dare me to come and play fast pitch and try to hit a fastball well I I did and I thank you for pushing me to get best out of me . You could hold your own among the best 3rd baseman´s around . As a pitcher you were pretty good also .Going to miss you greeting me in the morning with your cheerful voice . Thank you brother for looking after us as we were growing up you were always there for us. RIP brother Moe until we see each other again , love you brother may god bless you

You will be missed. You were always willing to lend a hand to others and your heart was always so forgiving. Mike was remembering the first time he met you was at our house and without asking you dropped what you were doing and started helping us with the landscape work we were doing that day. Always a giving heart. Rest in peace.

As I sit on the porch listening to the wind blow, I'm remembering our talks of softball and how Joe, Jon & Jasper were playing. You always gave some good tips on how they can be better at their game. You were always looking out for others.

We love you and will miss you so much!!
