Benny WARHAFT Obituary
December 23, 1926 - May 11, 2013
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved father and grandfather, Benny Warhaft, on May 11, 2013. He was predeceased by his brothers Sam and Leon. Benny is survived by his children David, Barbara and Barry; his grandchildren Zoe, Joshua, Sophia, Ari, Hannah, Paisia; and his wonderful brother, Harry. Born in Mundare, Alberta, Benny was active in the Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver Jewish communities, both in B'nai Brith and with volunteer work at Jewish Family Services. Benny was an avid skier, drew great joy and delight from opera and classical music, and appreciated cigars, scotch whisky and sports cars. But, above all, he loved his family to whom he was deeply devoted. His true kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. A graveside service will be held on May 13, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Temple Sholom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Jewish Family Services.

It is only now, in mid-October, that I have learned of Benny's passing. His brother Harry and Harry's family have been friends of our family for over 50 years but I knew Benny more through commercial real estate situations in Edmonton. Always a pleasant man, with a keen mind! Earlier this year Barry was in contact to arrange a meeting with his father and I, but sadly this was not to be. My sympathy goes out to all the Warhafts in their loss.

My condolences to your family. I knew Benny from when I visited Vancouver. We met a few times to discuss family genealogy. He was a lovely man and he made me feel like part of the family right away. He will be missed.
