NEW BEDFORD — Faith D. (Dudgeon) Glennon, 80, of Mattapoisett, died June 24, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Paul F. Glennon.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Stuart R. and Alice (Crosby) Dudgeon, she lived in Fairhaven and Padanaram before moving to Mattapoisett.

Mrs. Glennon was a graduate of Mattapoisett Center School, Fairhaven High School and Bridgewater State College. She was formerly employed as a physical education teacher and coach for many years in Edgartown, Wareham, Sacred Hearts Academy in Fairhaven, Mattapoisett Elementary Schools and Old Rochester Regional Schools. She taught grades Kindergarten - 12th grade and coached softball, field hockey and basketball. Mrs. Glennon also worked at the Y.W.C.A., and the Boys & Girls Club, both in New Bedford. In retirement, she still enjoyed sports but now as a spectator watching her grandchildren. She went to many high school events, still coaching inside her head.

Mrs. Glennon was the first woman member of the Mattapoisett Sports and Recreation Committee and a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and Bridgewater State Alumni Association. She enjoyed getting together with her college friends.

Mrs. Glennon enjoyed the Red Sox and Celtics. She had a love and desire for her family and friends and will always be remembered as a kind and caring person, great teacher and coach. She loved Mattapoisett, Ned's Point, Shipyard park, Crescent Beach and Seaport Pharmacy. She was a true "Mattapoisett Girl."

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Hathaway and her husband, Mark of Rochester; 2 grandchildren, Megan Flynn Hathaway and Noah Glennon Hathaway; a sister-in-law, Joyce Dudgeon of South Yarmouth; several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Stuart "Tony" Dudgeon and Carolyn Perkins.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd., (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday from 2-6 PM.
