Bernard Lafontaine
March 15, 1950 – April 20, 2013
Bernie Lafontaine suddenly passed away on April 20, 2013. He was such a loving man. Whenever he greeted anyone whether he knew them or not he'd always say “Hi, how we all doing”? Always inclusive and so kind to everyone; he truly loved life. Whenever someone needed him he went out of his way to be there for them. As a First Nation Muskowekwan Elder Bernie believed that “Your greatness is measured by your kindness” and he truly was a man of great kindness. Such a beautiful person; someone who stayed true to all who knew him… One of his final and greatest wishes when he passed is that he could be laid to rest with his loving wife Margaret who passed away 13 years ago. I hope that we can all come together and respect this "Truely Great Man's " final wishes. May God always be with him.

Our Dearest Brother Bernie,
Our hearts still ache in sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it means to lose you, no one will ever know. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone. Each of us went with you, where ever you may roam. Right now we are struggling since that difficult time you left. I'm afraid our strength is faltering....help us, just one request. I pray that you will reach down and touch us, right now, whenever at this moment. Let your presence fill the room where we all are and let us feel an extra portion of your strength that can help get us through this day. We thank you Bernie, for allowing us to know you, to laugh with you, to love you...
Forever in our hearts, the Lafontaine's.

Bernie was kind and always had a smile for everyone. I had the pleasure of working with him and we got to know each other very well. He will be sadly missed, but now he will be with his other loves...wife and father ...who will be there to welcome him home. I am sorry I can not be there but I do send my deepest sympathy to the family. My thoughts and prayers to all.

Dear Bernie,
We first met in 1970 when I was attending Luther College High School and becoming acquainted with Canadians and their culture. You struck me as a very cosmopolitan person; and so, Regina became cosmopolitan to me. Since then, I have known you have always been kind and willing to help anyone at anytime for anything.
When you visited us in California, we had a blast at Thornton Winery in Temecula; and, I will always remember how you vigorously explored Vegas - no fear, man ;-).
You take care, brother; and, say hello to Margaret – it must be heavenly there. You will be missed: never forgotten!
Sincerley,
André

Our hearts go out to Myrtle the Lafontaine siblings and their extended families. We sadly understand all too well the measure of your grief. Bernie was a unique personality he easily aquired many friends and acquaintances who enjoyed his wit and amiable charms. His physical presence will be greatly missed but his lively spirit will live on in cherished memories.
Yours in loving memory,
Lynn & Dieter Pelzer
