Bernard J. Landgraf, age 71, of Sheboygan, died Sunday morning, January 1, 2012 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Bernard was born June 17, 1940 in Sheboygan to Bernard and Helen (Prepster) Landgraf. He attended local schools and the Sheboygan Vocational School.

On October 15, 1960 Bernard and Sandra Baumann were united in marriage at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.

For a few years Bernie worked at Armor Leather before starting his own auto repair business. Following that he worked as a mechanic and wrecker operator at Triangle Motors for a number of years. He then began employment for the Sheboygan Police Department as a fleet operations mechanic for twenty-two years, retiring in 1997.

Bernie was a faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. For many years Bernie enjoyed league bowling at Roots Lanes, Lakeshore Lanes, and Maple Lanes where he proudly rolled a 300 in 2003. He also enjoyed Friday Night League golfing at Riverdale.

For many years Bernie and Sandi enjoyed spending wonderful times with friends, Clarence and Phyllis Kussard in Mercer where Bernie enjoyed sport fishing. Bernie also had great times on his bi-annual fishing trips to Canada with his friends and his son, Mike.

Bernie could fix anything and was always there to help family and friends.

In addition to his loving wife, Sandi, Bernie is survived by his daughter, Deborah Langhoff and her husband, Robert Day; his son, Michael (Beth) Landgraf; two grandchildren, Robert (Amanda) Myszewski and Sarah Myszewski; three great-grandchildren, Rose, Sophia, and Vincent Myszewski; his sister-in-law, LaVon (James) Dulmes; his brother-in-law, David (Svetlana) Baumann; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by an infant sister; two sisters, Charmaine Platkus and Rose M. Wright; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Lucille Baumann.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Ballhorn Chapels. Rev. Adam L. Scheblein, Pastor of Immanuel Church, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in his name for Immanual Evangelical Lutheran Church and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Bernie's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the caring staff at Sheboygan Senior Community and at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice where he spent his final days.

Though he may have appeared grumpy at times, Bernie always held a great love and dedication to his family and especially received much joy from his great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

Sandy, I am horribly sorry for your loss. I just found out your husband's passing from Kim, my ex-receptionist. I have great memories of colorful and playful conversations and stories he shared with me over the years. We both finished our visits by exchanging horseradish sauce and maple syrup...and leaving with smiles. God Bless You and Keep You. I know he is missed.

Sandy, you took such wonderful care of Bernie. May the happy memories help comfort you and your family. Even though he held that grumpy exterior sometimes... I knew he was a softy at heart. It was a pleasure caring for him over the years. With sympathy,

Sandy--My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family. You were a very good friend to me as a transplant to Sheboygan in the late 1950's.. I have always enjoyed the times we "ran into each other" and caught up on family news. Prayers for God's peace and comfort for you.
