I am saddened to hear of Bernie's passing. He was loved by many and will be missed. He was always a great Boss and always approachable. On the day of my late husband's funeral I looked up to see him coming towards me with open arms and a big hug. It meant a lot to me and my family more so when he told me he could not stay for the service as he was on his way to the Dr. I had no idea I would be saying goodbye to him so soon. He never failed to mention to any new staff that I had trained him when he came to work with us. To Carol and the family I know he will be missed but he will remain in your hearts forever. To Carol do not be afraid to cry at times or laugh and take it one day at a time. God Bless wit love. Madeline.

My condolences to his wife, Carol & family. I had the pleasure of working with Bernie in the gov't of Canada. He was a friendly, kind & supportive boss. He will be missed...Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, LOVE leaves a memory no one can steal.

My condolences to Carol and her family. Bernie was in a league of his own whether demonstrating the correct way to use chop sticks or walking around the office on Robson St.

Bernie's smile and infectious laughter always brightened up my day at work, and he was always so sincere. My father always really enjoyed and looked forward to their birthday chats each year. He will be sorely missed.

I am so saddened by the news of your passing. I remember when I was a fairly new employee, during the 1998 Ice Storm, you allowed me, during working hours, to call my mother in Montreal to reassure me that she was ok. To me, you will always remain such a warm, cheerful and compassionate person. Thank you for the memories. May you rest in peace. Love X0X

Very sad to hear of Bernie's passing. Every time I picture him I see him with a big smile and twinkle in his eye. I was so happy to see him when he visited his good friend (Ron MacKinnon) in the hospital and the follow-up phone calls to see how Ron was doing. My heart aches for you Carol. I guess both our husbands are up there enjoying a glass of good scotch. May he always rest in peace.

Profoundly saddened to hear of Bernie's passing. We were just remembering him at Christmas this year. He was a very good friend when I first moved here from the east and we had many good times together. Lots of,laughter when Bernie was around and lots of great food. RIP Bernie
