My thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends. Bernhard was a tremendous friend. We shared many a great time sippin on Cappuccino venti wets at Starbucks discussing our passions for great cars, music and lots more. I am so grateful for having his friendship.
Thank you Bernhard, you have been a tremendous inspiration.
Cheers,
Rob

First, I am just hearing of Bernhard's passing. My condolences to his family and loved ones. He was a great man. We joked we were twins because my name is Bernard. And how people across the globe butchered our names. The earth lost an angel. I will miss you namesake twin...

Dear friends and collegues of Bernhard,
now we have taken the last journey with Bernhard and said goodby on a mild and sunny day at the end of January.
Please find a few pics, perhaps one of them will make you smile in your memory of him.
Thank you again for your deep appreciation and friendship you showed Bernhard throughout his life.

A man of many talents, he was. Bernhard was SME is multiple technical areas. As soon as I met him, I knew I was dealing with a man who pressed himself to greatness, to achieve even when it became difficult. I'll never forgot our chat over lunch in Seattle years ago; how he managed backup for a data center and the things he had to do overnight to get the system backed up and online before the workforce came in for the day. He had a number of narrow escapes! Oh, the humor of it all! Yesterday was the launch of Microsoft Windows 11, an OS that Bernhard had a HUGE hand in bringing up for the world. Tomorrow would have been Bernhard's 59th birthday. I'll lean on those two events to remember Bernhard; my annual calendar reminder will see to it. One more thing; I’m happy to lose the “h”, my friend :-)

Bernhard and I met working at Dell. I was lucky enough to hang out with him in OKC and RR having lunches and dinners on work trips. He was an amazing man, smart, and very funny. He will be very missed by many both personally and professionally.

The last time I talked with Bernhard was just before I went on a vacation last month. Little did I know that that would be our last conversation! Bernhard and I spent most of our careers in almost mutually exclusive technology area, he in Windows land and I in Linux land. So, I got to meet him for the very first time when I moved to the Services Organization and landed on the same team. I knew him for the last 3-4 years as a colleague. I was impressed with his strong work ethics and vast interest in anything related to technology. I'll never forget his very unique style of talking and witty remarks. Rest in peace, my friend.

Bernhard was a beloved co-worker, mentor, and friend. Though I never had the chance to meet him in person, our regular conversations over the past few months left an enduring mark on me.
During our calls, which would often last for hours, Bernhard shared his vast well of knowledge on topics ranging from the latest technology trends to the rich culture and history of Europe. But beyond his intellectual gifts, it was Bernhard's warm personality, keen sense of humor, and thoughtful perspective that truly resonated with me.
In a world of remote work that can sometimes feel isolating, Bernhard was a beacon of light - his voice of reason, wisdom, and occasional well-placed cynicism became a cherished touchstone that I will carry with me for a long time. The lessons I learned from him, both practical and philosophical, have permanently shaped my character and outlook on life.
To Bernhard's family, please know that even though I never had the privilege of meeting him face-to-face, he made a profound impact on me. His memory will live on through the lives he touched, mine included. My deepest condolences to you all.

It is touching and very comforting to hear how respectfully, appreciatively and lovingly you all, colleagues and friends, speak about my brother Bernhard. I would like to thank you very much for that, also on behalf of our family. In many conversations he told me how connected he felt to the 'DELL family' over the many years. He was passionate about his work, always looking to learn new things. Bernhard loved life in the USA, the country of his dreams. He thought and acted generously and passionately. His lovable, cheerful nature and quirky humor, his upright character, his sense of beauty and aesthetics and, last but not least, his attitude towards his handicap were impressive. Although he was my 'little brother', I was able to learn so much from him. It was unimaginable to be without him.

I worked with Bernhard (Dell) while I was a OSEP PM (Microsoft) for ~3 years from 2020-2022. He was a strong advocate for building great Dell devices. He was always thoughtful and gave kudos to those who did great work. To his family and close friends, please note that Bernhard was an inspiration. He made a difference in so many lives and will be missed. Sending my deepest condolences.

Truly saddened to hear of Bernhard's passing. While we worked in different areas, I was often in meetings with him and we could always depend on his wisdom and humor to make the meetings productive and fun. The world and Dell just won't be the same without him. Condolences to the family as well.

Absolutely gutted by the loss of this dear colleague and friend. Bernhard was a delight to work alongside and, pre-Covid, to travel with. He was always ready to share a laugh, pitch in to help, and share his insights. It sounds silly, I know, but I keep thinking about how he pronounced my name--low, gravelly, a little drawn out, and with that beautiful German accent. I already miss him so much. Rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of working with Bernhard for many, many years. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable, he was always able to make others feel comfortable and be part of the conversations and solutions. I will miss the friendship that endured. Bernhard has touched many lives in an outstanding way and he will truly be missed by all. May the memories never be forgotten. God Bless.

Bernhard and I traveled for business up to the Microsoft campus often prior to Covid from 2016-2019, we had lots of great conversations over a beer when not talking about work subjects. He was always available to chat on either work or really any subject, he would always talk passionately about German car engineering, once you got him spun up on the subject he would go on for hours.
A place that will always remind me of him is an outdoor seating area at an Italian restaurant in Bellevue WA that he would text me to meet at before our night meetings would start.
I will miss you and think of you often Bernhard.

It has not only been a constant pleasure but a privilege working with Bernhard
His competence and vast knowledge were unparalleled, and he had a unique gift for sharing these
His dedication to helping solving issues, improve your leaning while doing so was appreciated in every interaction, and his absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt.
My heartfelt condolences to his family

My memories of Bernhard, he could always break up the tension on calls and make everyone laugh, his extensive knowledge of everything Microsoft, learning about new technology and how he would explain it with a bit of wit was amazing, in the short time that I have known you, I am sorry to see you go so soon, My heartfelt condolences to his family

I have had the pleasure of working with Bernhard more closely over the past few years. While I worked with him in my previous role, when I opted to move to his team he was super excited and welcoming to me. We have had countless conversations around our Windows and Office "war stories." Our 1x1s would go well past the expected time talking about them as well as other mutual interests. It was always good times to get on a call with Bernhard and simply talk. You will be missed, my friend!

It was an absolute pleasure working more closely with Bernhard over these last few years. While we worked together in my previous role, he was super excited and very welcoming when I moved to his group. We had so many "war stories" around Windows and Office over the years, our 1x1s would always extend way over the expected time. We would venture into hobbies and mutual interests as well, but I think the laughing over our "war stories" always kept us going!
You will be missed, my friend!

Bernhard was a co-worker and a friend. I first met him when he came on board within our Services Organization to support one of our largest and most challenging vendors. He not only will be missed from his hard work and dedication, but also his friendship, sharing of his travel and experiences. It was a pleasure to know him and get the opportunity to work with him. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. Until we meet again. :(

I remember him as a manager a manager first, and a friend after. When he was my manager, he always had my back and fought for me. I remember him playing disc golf with us on the weekends. Despite his handicap, he always seemed to enjoy just being with people and hanging out. He always enjoyed life. I will always remember him and hold him in my heart.

Bernhard was a friend and mentor to me. I remember many a conversation in the Nashville office when I started at Dell. He was always teaching myself and others. Always excited to share the latest on Windows or any technology he had run across something on. He loved his work and loved to learn. We had tons of conversations with us talking tech, making jokes and just having fun sharing what was going on in our lives. Clearly he knew way more than I would ever know about Windows, but he never made you feel like you didn't have enough knowledge for the conversation. He always included everyone and valued everyone's opinions. I will miss him greatly.

Bernhard was a trusted coworker and friend for the past twenty years. His mentorship helped me to become the technical expert I am today. Bernhard had a zest for life few people attain and his dedication to his work was unmatched.
Bernhard had likely forgotten more about Windows than most people ever learn in their lifetime. He was a true expert in his trade and a dedicated Dell employee. I miss his honest and forthright opinions on issues and his direct manner in addressing problems.
Cheers my friend, you will be missed.
