Bernice Christiansen Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce that Bernice Christiansen passed away on January 24, 2023 in Stillwater, OK. She was born on March 7, 1924 in Winthrop, MN to Herman and Alma Schultz (Buntrock). Bernice attended school in New Ulm, MN and met her husband of 53 years, Robert Christiansen, in that area. In 1953 she moved with her husband and their three children to Auburn, IN. Bernice and Robert finally settled in Middlebury, IN where they had many friends and were well-loved members of the community. Robert passed away in 2002 and in 2016 Bernice moved to Stillwater, OK to be closer to her daughter Carol Reavis. Besides Carol, she is survived by her son Steven Olson of Cincinnati, OH, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Diane Mason and Diane's husband Al Mason, her daughter-in-law Victoria Olson and her son-in-law Michael Reavis. Bernice will be laid to rest this summer in a private ceremony in New Ulm, MN. She will truly be missed by those of us who loved her and were unconditionally loved by her. Carol & Steve, my sympathy to you both & your families in the passing of your Mom, Bernice. I am Diane (Buntrock-Stuber) Fredin & am now retired & live on my parent's farm in Bismarck Township, Winthrop, MN. Whenever your parents came back to Winthrop & visited Alma & Herman, we always connected in some way. I must say I was alarmed to read of Bernice's passing, just a few minutes ago, in the New Ulm Journal. I usually corresponded with Bernice at Christmas time after Alma died, but had not heard from her in some time. My cards probably were never forwarded to her new home with you, Carol. May Bernice now rest in peace in her eternal home. I still miss Alma. My Dad died in August of 1997, Alma in September of 1997, my beloved cat also in September & my husband's father in December 1997. It was a sad 5 months for me that year.
