The Reverend Bernie Eugene Rodgers, was born in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, December 23, 1931. Rev. Rodgers fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith and on May 11, 2018 his Heavenly Father welcomed him Home at the age of 86. Pastor Rodgers' life was wholly dedicated to serving his Lord Jesus Christ, preaching and teaching the Word of God fearlessly and faithfully, while always serving others. Throughout his 69 years of full-time ministry, Brother Bernie served as both Pastor and Evangelist. He Shepherded local assemblies in Missouri, Texas, Florida, Michigan and Kansas. As Evangelist Bernie Rodgers, his treasured 'Families by Faith' engaged churches across America for over two decades.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Janet Rodgers of Ocala, Florida and a brother, Missionary Laverne Rodgers of Tokyo, Japan. Three children were born to this union, Karen Mitchell of Jacksonville, Florida, Tonya King of Coral Springs, Florida and Kyle Rodgers of Midland, Texas. Nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren will treasure their Granddaddy's legacy.
A memorial service for Reverend Rodgers will be celebrated at the Friendship Baptist Church of Ocala, on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:00 A.M.

I´m sorry to say, especially after reading all the other condolensces, that I didn´t get to know Pastor Rogers, other than as an occational guest speaker at the church I was at back in the very early `70´s. I was just now, some 50 years later, reading in the Gospel of Matthew (26:36), and instantly recalled a sermon he preached-"And sitting down they watched him there." How I wish I could more precisely remember it in detail. But I never forgot about it either! Which is why I searched for a possible obit. God sure blessed him, and made him a blessing. And you cannot beat that!

Bernie was in the dorm room next to mine our first year bible school in First Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. J. Frank Norris was the dynamic pastor and President of the school. We will meet again in heaven.

I will be eternally grateful for Pastor Rodgers ministry at Central Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. My sister and I were the last two he baptized there before leaving for his next place of ministry. His last service there was June 3, 1979.

Brother Bernie married my husband and me back in 1971 at Wick Rd Baptist Church, Taylor MI where he was Our Pastor. They opened there home to us while visiting in FL. Many precious memories we have with Bernie & Janet, Karen, Tonya, & Kyle. Prayers for the family. Until we meet again!

Pastor Rodgers was our pastor while we were at the Denton Baptist Temple in Denton, Texas. It was there that we formed an everlasting friendship with Pastor Rodgers and his dear wife, Janet. We were always so happy to see them and spend time with them when they came to Springfield, Missouri where we live. We will always remember the wonderful times that we had with Pastor and Janet over the years and especially while he was our pastor. He was a great pastor and truly served the Lord. He will be missed by us and one day, we will see him again. We are blessed having had Pastor Rodgers in our lives. Our prayers are for you Janet, and your family.

Pastor Bernie was my pastor when I was a teenager at Grace Baptist Temple in San Antonio, Texas. He and his wife were a tremendous blessing to me. I thank God for his dedicated ministry to the Lord. He knew me as Betty Denn. May God comfort his whole family as only He can during this time of loss and bring them peace Pastor Bernie is rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
