Merfeld, Bert F. age 61 of Eden Prairie. Born Sept. 9, 1951 in Mpls. He attended Edina High School. Beloved husband and father was taken home to his Savior suddenly due to a motorcycle accident on Saturday, May 18, 2013. He leaves behind his wife, Carol; his mother-in-law Helen Evers of Minnetonka; son Matthew (Lillie) of Shorewood, previously Dallas; daughters Amanda (Glyn) Byte of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Rachel (Grant) McDanel of Norman, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Ariel and Avery Merfeld and Chloe, Makinsey and Cruz Byte; sister Charlotte (Bill) Bing of Walker, Minnesota and brother Craig (Cindy) of Charlottesville, SC; niece Debbie Welch (Larry) of Brooklyn Park; nephews Bob (Kerry) Bing of Duluth, James David (MacKenzie) of Charlottesville, SC and Joseph (Brittnay) of Little Rock AFB, AR. Preceded in death by his father Bert Merfeld and mother Marian Merfeld and his brother David Merfeld. Bert also leaves behind many friends from living several years in Tulsa, Oklahoma and from his place of employment, Black Box, previously Norstan Communications. His gentle manner in all he did will be missed and how he loved his family. The family would appreciate any memorials be sent to the Red Cross to help the people of Moore, Oklahoma as they sort through and survive the disaster brought on by the tornados. Bert will be sorely missed by those he touched. I am so sad to lose him as a co-worker and friend. He was a bright light in my work life and always available. I know how much he will be mised by the family he loved so much. He talked about his family a lot and adored them. The loss of Bert will leave a hole in our hearts.

Bert was always referred to as " one of the good guys" here at Black Box. Not only by those employees in MN, but by everyone he knew throughout the country. From Maine to California, he put a smile on your face every time you spoke with him. A very talented person with a gentle kindness - he will be sorely missed by all of us.
