BERT RAY NUGEN FAYETTEVILLE, WV – Bert Ray Nugen, 87, of Fayetteville, WV, departed this life Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill. Born on May 7, 1926 in Dempsey, WV. Mr. Nugen was a member of the Fayetteville First Church of God serving on the board of trustees; retired mail carrier with the US Postal Services and a bus operator with Fayette County Schools; a member of the Fayetteville American legion Post 149 and a Navy veteran of WWII. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Nugen in 2008; daughter, Linda Nugen and brother, Richard "Dick" Nugen. Left with many wonderful memories to cherish is one son, Alan Nugen and wife, Kim of Fayetteville; three daughters, Diana Hogan and husband, Jim of Fayetteville, Karen Hildebrand and husband Terry of Oak Hill and Sandra Price and husband, Monty of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Hogan, Jonathan Hogan, Julia Mallard, Chris Hildebrand, Kevin Hildebrand, Logan Nugen, Laura Price and Nathan Price; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Persinger, Erica Hogan, Jamie Hogan, Faith Mallard, Kaelyn Mallard and Andrew Pigg; special thanks to his caregivers Eva and Karla, VAMC adult day care center, the DAV drivers and "Mack", also Dr. Mark White and his staff. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Fayetteville First Church of God with Pastor Mike Parsons and Pastor Danny Goins officiating. Interment will follow at Highlawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill. Friends may call at the church on the day of the funeral from one hour prior to service time. Maple Avenue, Fayetteville, will be assisting the family.
