Bertha is a treasured part of our large Payne family. She helped keep the homefires humming, organizing, repairing, cleaning--generally solving problems in her creative way. She was fearless at tackling projects that needed doing, and was a true Godsend to our mother who needed more help than children were capable of giving. Once or twice a week she would come to work her magic. She taught by example to work hard and stay focused to finish each task. Despite hardships in her life, she did not dwell on the past, and she treated others with kindness and a servant's heart. I am grateful for her example of making each day better, always looking for ways to be helpful. She showed me the value of looking forward and moving past my mistakes in life. Thank you Della, Nicci and Debra for sharing your sweet mom with us! Our mother, Jaynann, always said that Bertha was her sister she never had growing up. Now they are reunited in heaven and sharing association with loved ones gone before. Prayers for your comfort, knowing Bertha was an angel on earth and beloved by the Dean and Jaynann Payne family.

I have a few fond memories of Grandma. Spending time out in Myton, watching her and everyone can food, taking us kids on a drive around the property, coming to watch me get baptized, her coming with presents for birthdays and holidays and the yummy Christmas candy she made. Oh how we would fight over grandma's candy. How she would send us kids quarters in the mail to add to our coin books she gave us. I may not have spent much time with her after my dad died and I got older but she was always my grandma. I always thought of her.
