William Dubs Obituary

DALLASTOWN William J. Dubs, 92, died Monday, February 14, 2011, at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey. He was the husband of the late Helen M. (Hengst) Dubs. There will be a viewing from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Friday at the mortuary with the Rev. Mark E. Fair officiating. Interment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Born July 17, 1918, in Lineboro, Md., William was the son the of the late Emory Eugene and Blanche Elmira (Stiffler) Dubbs. William was a United States Army Veteran and the recipient of five Bronze Stars which he was awarded while serving in Normandy and the Ardennes in France, the Rhineland area of Germany, and other regions of central Europe during WWII. He was lifetime member of V.F.W Post 1446 in Red Lion and the 35th Division Association in Kansas City, Mo. William was also a member of Steam-O-Rama in Windsor and enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his daughter, Joyce E. Brown of Dallastown; sons, Brian B. Dubs and his wife, Jackie L. of Dallastown, and Barry E. Dubs of Aaronsburg; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Dubbs, and sister, Nannie Dubbs. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Sorry to hear of Bill's passing, we went on trips together for the union and worked together for many years at National Gypsum Co. Bill was such a help to me when I was President of the Local.
