Services for Bessie Nadine Short, 92, of Mineola, are scheduled for Monday, June 8, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola with the Rev. Rick Son and the Rev. Bobbie Maltas officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to services. Interment will follow in Mineola City Cemetery.

Mrs. Short died on Thursday, June 4, 2015, in Mineola. She was born Dec. 22, 1922, in Holiday to the late Thomas Carl and Mable Smith.

Mrs. Short built bombs for the U.S during World War II. She was a secretary and office manager for Dr. RO Moore for 30 years. She was a volunteer for the Chamber of Commerce and Meals On Wheels, and taught Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Short was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Short, of 60 years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Donohoe and husband Pete, of Mineola, Cathy Roberts and husband Dick, of Quitman; brother, Thomas Carl Smith, of Athens; two sisters, Juanita Andrews, of Conroe, and Merle Tyler and husband Tommy, of Conroe; five grandchildren, Bronwyn Sullenberger and husband Barry, of Saginaw, PJ Donohoe, of Monroe, Michigan, Aaron Donohoe and wife Dana, of Mineola, Sarah Jahanbin and husband Arastu, of Dallas, Kelly Roberts and Tony Moreno, of Denton; five great-grandchildren, Jeff Roberts, Kros Donohoe, Riley Donohoe, Kaleb Brown, Brendan Sullenberger and Kailie Brown.
