Bessie Blackwell Smith, age 79, of North Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at East Cooper Regional Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Born on February 8, 1945, in Columbus County, NC, Bessie was the cherished daughter of the late Hosea and Emma Alice Martin Blackwell.

Bessie's legacy of love and resilience continues through her surviving family: her three devoted sons, Randy Smith of North Charleston, SC, Gene Smith, and Wayne Smith, both of Goose Creek, SC; her sister, Alice B. Burns of Fayetteville, NC; as well as four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory.

Bessie was a woman of strength and grace, whose warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on her community and all who knew her. Her life was a testament to her dedication to family and faith, and her vibrant spirit will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, December 13th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral Home, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, North Charleston, SC 29418.
