Surrounded by her family, Beth Anne Goodwin, 47, of Newark, WV, passed away November 26, 2021, at Camden Clark Medical Center due to complications of Covid 19.
Beth was born on August 19, 1974, in Lake City, Florida and was the daughter of Thomas Wayne Barker and Judy Mae Sears.
Beth spent her early childhood in the Parkersburg area, before moving to the Bronson Florida area where she would spend her teenage years. The friendships she made during those years would bring her great memories that she treasured until the end.
Beth graduated high school in 1992 from Bronson High School. The next 29 years she spent in the Parkersburg and Newark, Wirt County area working, homemaking, and as a student. She had recently received her associate degree and was an active Dean’s List student at WVU-P, pursuing a career in the mental health field. Helping those in need and putting others first was her selfless quality that never went unnoticed.
Beth dearly loved the beach, and nearly any “warm” beach was her favorite place on earth to be. A short list of the things she loved to do were cheering on her kids at any of their sporting events, sharing any time with her children, cuddling with her granddaughter (her Mimi and Ani time), and morning coffee time on the porch with her husband. It was not uncommon for the couple to spend two or three hours drinking a pot and a half of coffee, discussing life, and laughing.
In addition to her parents, Beth is survived by her husband of nine years, partner for 18, Todd Aaron Goodwin. Her sons, Porter Jay Goodwin, and Brodie James Goodwin of the home. Her daughter, Megan Dawn Wright (Tyler Anderson) of Elizabeth, and son Gavin Jason Donahue (Natya Cochrane) of Newark. Her granddaughter, Anakin Olivia Anderson of Elizabeth, and many dear and special in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including her “Womenfolk Tribe”.
Beth was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mason and Dema Barker, and maternal grandparents Garland and Beulah Sears.
A celebration of Beth Anne’s life will be held on December 11, 2021, at the Elizabeth Baptist Church, M.D. Wilson Activity Building. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to approximately 2 pm, a service will follow, Rev. Wm. Delmas Stutler officiating. Friends are invited to stay for a dinner immediately following the service.
A memorial scholarship fund is being planned at this time. The fund is being set up in remembrance of Beth Anne and will benefit exemplary students entering or already in the studies of the mental health field. Until nonprofit status is granted, a temporary account has been established at Calhoun Banks, 372 Juliana St. Elizabeth, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a small contribution be made in Beth’s memory. The staff at Calhoun Banks will assist anyone who wishes to contribute.
