Beth Ostriyznick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 19, 2023.
Beth Louise Ostriyznick, 72, of League City, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2023. She was born on June 12, 1951, in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, to the late Clare Adelaine Webb (née Ruhl) and Edgar Agar Webb.

In 1976, Beth married her husband of 46 years, Larry Ostriyznick. They lived in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, until 1978, when they moved to Grand Island, New York, for Larry's job. In 1993, they again moved for Larry's job, this time to League City, Texas, where they lived until Beth's passing. Beth loved visiting friends and family in New York and Canada but was thrilled to return to her Texas home for the much milder winters.

Beth was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished every moment with her family and friends. She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Larry Ostriyznick, her son, Craig Ostriyznick and his wife, Sarah, and her granddaughters, Hadley and Matilda Ostriyznick, all of League City, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Snow, and her husband, Ralph, of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; her brother, William Webb, and his wife, Cathy, of Paraparaumu, New Zealand; her aunt, Grace Ruhl, of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada; her sister-in-law Donna Gilbert and her husband, Douglas, her brothers-in-law Robert Ostryznik and Paul Ostrynik, and her sister-in-law Delores Taylor, all of Guelph, Ontario, Canada; and many other friends and relatives throughout the United States, Canada, and Wales.

Beth graduated from West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound, Ontario, and went on to earn an associate degree in business from the University of Buffalo in New York. When still working, she was a dedicated member of the American Business Women's Association. She was passionate about the organization and served in different chapter officer positions for years. In her younger years, she enjoyed various crafts such as crocheting, knitting, quilting, cross-stitch, and needlepoint. Beth also loved camping with her family and, after retirement, found joy in traveling, especially to New Zealand and on European river cruises. She had a passion for baking and always delighted in trying out new recipes. Additionally, she loved the Harry Potter books and movies, and also enjoyed passing the time playing Pokémon Go.

Beth passed away surrounded by her family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details forthcoming.

Joan Whitney and Grace Ruhl...Beth was my first cousin in Ontario and my best memory of Beth is the summer we spent at Sauble Beach helping look after my grandfather. Every afternoon when we had a break from our duties we would dance to the Beach boys. Every time I hear one of their songs I think of that summer. Larry and family we are sorry for your loss and pray for peace for you as you travel this journey of grief.

Beth and Lary were neighbors of ours when we lived in Texas. She was there when I lost my spouse and took care of me when I was at my lowest. Her heart, spirit, and character were always above reproach. To this day one of the fondest memories I have of her is she would always end a sentence with "and what not." This always brought a smile to everyone who noticed it. She was a true Canadian... nice and sweet to the core.

Though this is a rough time, I find myself still smiling because of all the great memories knowing the love and warmth she brought to everyone around her. With this I raise my glass of wine to her, Lary, and Craig. You all will be in my prayers.

Never forget to smile. I know she is smiling and protecting us from above.

I have such wonderful memories visiting Aunt Beth & Uncle Larry in Grand Island, NY. My first introduction to Buffalo Chicken Wings, the delicious chocolate store at Easter time, Broadway Market and the best shopping! I could also play with Craig´s Nintendo to my heart´s content and pretend that Angel and Susie were my dogs too! When they moved to Texas, they introduced us to a whole new state: the Houston Space Center, the Botanic Gardens and we can´t forget Austin, Texas for Craig & Sarah´s wedding (6th street at 1 am is bustling!)
Thank you for all these great memories Aunt Beth! You will be greatly missed.
Thinking of you all and sending our prayers,
Monique, Dino, Audrey, Sebastian and Simon

Beth was the kindest person at John Crane the company she worked for at the time I met her. I remember her helping people and going out of her way to do so. She gave me good advice to follow during my troubled times. I will always remember her with a smile on her face. May she be at peace, by God`s side.

To Larry, Sarah, Craig, Hadley & Matilda:
Beth was a fierce family defender & loved you all so much. She was so involved in your lives and always talked about her family with so much love. My mom, Frances, looked forward to routine phone calls from Beth to get caught up with all of the Texas news. And Larry, thank you for all of your emails to keep us informed & entertained! I know you are all going to miss her so much but she has left a permanent part of herself with all of you eternally.
Take Care & love from Cindy, Rodney & McGregor Family

Donna and Doug Gilbert
We took 2 Europen river cruises with Larry and Beth and had a wonderful time, especially the Christmas Markets. The second cruise was in a warmer climate and was able to sit outside at the various restaurants to enjoy and relax.
Also when we were together the four of us would have a game of Eurcher, Doug and Beth were partners and Larry and I were partners. Most times Doug and Beth would win, but then there were times when Larry and I would win and that made my day becauce I am not a very good card player and Beth would laugh because I was jumping up and down with joy to beat her. We are going to miss those card games between the four of us. She will be missed.
Sending our love and prayers to the family.

Our deepest sympathy to you Larry and your family. Danny and I enjoyed your visits. When Beth and Larry visited Canada, they would come to our home on Old Farm Road, along with Donna and Doug. We remeniced, got caught up on all our families and had lots of laughs and shared a good meal. Beth and Larry attended our daughters wedding in Ottawa and we attended Craig and Sarah's wedding in Texas. A lot of good memories. We will miss Beth. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Our condolences to the family...words can't say what we feels for your loss. Back in the day, Beth and I would spend hours on line discussing family history trying to see if there were ties with Ostriyznick and Ostryzniuk family. We decided that we were cousins...and that's all there was to it. I truly miss those days...we had a lot of fun. Rest in Peace dear Beth, rest in peace.
