Betty Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 21, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Faye Allen, 92, on December 18, 2024 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Betty is survived by her loving husband, David Allen; her daughter, Belinda Lamm Osborne (Allen Amis); her stepsons, Rod (Amy) and Eric (De); her sister, Donna Christensen; her loyal cat, Louie; as well as a host of friends and relatives near and far.

Betty was raised in the small town of Inwood, Iowa with her two older sisters, LaVonne and Donna, and was proud of her Midwestern roots. She moved to Denver as a young adult, had a career as a secretary, and then became a fulltime wife and devoted mother to Belinda. Years after the death of her first husband, she married Dave. They were married for 47 years at the time of her passing.

To know Betty was to love her. She was a lifelong animal lover and had a soft heart for every cat that she encountered. As a dedicated cook and talented baker, she hosted many outstanding dinners. Her famous fudge and Christmas cookie assortments were a welcome annual delight for many. As a member of First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction, she was dedicated to her faith, enjoying traditional church hymns and fellowship with the community. Her faith was nearly matched by her enthusiasm for her favorite teams, including the Colorado Avs and Broncos. The shining light of her life, however, was Dave and their blended family.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to HopeWest Hospice Center in Grand Junction, CO, where Betty was lovingly cared for in her final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to this very special organization.

A service of remembrance will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Betty was a friend of my Mom's (Jean Bahnson Iseminger) growing up in Inwood. They kept in touch every Christmas until my Mom's passing in 2016. My mom spoke so fondly of Betty. Sending condolences from my Dad and our whole family.

I called her "Auntie", & she called me "Niecie", then we would laugh! She was my mom's (La Vonne) youngest sister, & mom would call her "Baby Sister". Mom said Betty was always treated as a Princess in the family, & by my Uncle Dave, her husband. I knew as a very beautiful, bright, curious, relative. She had to know everything about everybody, & wasn't afraid to ask. I loved talking to her on the phone, when we would catch up on "the family", laugh, & reminisce. I will miss Betty, & our calls immensely! Love you Betty ! Melinda Dahl
