March 1, 1936 - March 7, 2023

Betty June Carter, 87, of Wythe County, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

She was born on March 1, 1936, in Wythe County, a daughter of the late Sam and Ruth Christley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joy Lee Carter; daughter, Sherry Harlow; five brothers, and two sisters.

Betty was a God-loving woman and an active member of Cooper's Cove Baptist Church for forty years. She loved her family very much and was a wonderful wife and mother. Betty was also a member of the Red Hat Society where she enjoyed being with her friends and she also enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was known by her grandchildren as Maw Maw and loved them very much.

Betty is survived by three sons, Boyd Andrews and wife, Vickie, Tim Andrews and wife, Sherrie, and Jeff Andrews and wife, Nadine; one daughter, Ann Andrews; eight grandchildren, Brooks, Traci, Sami, Brandon, Emily, Sean, Dorian, and April; ten great-grandchildren, Emma, Abby, Annaleigh, Keane, Alana, Von, Julian, Ella, Elysia, and Kaden; and two sisters, Janice Bowman and Lola Dice.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Oakey's East Chapel with Pastor Kyle Dooley officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.Oakeys.com.
