The brightly shining light that was the life of Betty D'Aprile, has dimmed.
Betty, 85, of Willowbrook, passed peacefully, Saturday, April 16, after a life dedicated to those she loved and the world around her.
Few, if any, could match Betty's passion for life, her dedication and joy of family, the ability to put first-time friends at ease and a calmness only few possess. Outside noise was simply that in Betty's world...Noise.
It must be noted, Betty was the ultimate sports mom, never missing a football game or wrestling meet. If a poll were conducted, she would easily outdistance the parents of friends of her sons Jamie and Kevin as the most fun mom. Betty was tolerant, she was accepting and she was kind. You were but a stranger once in her world.
The daughter of John and Anne Soyring, Betty came into this world in 1937, was raised in Crown Point, Ind., then shifted her life to Palos Park when she married.
A graduate of Ball State University with a BS in education, Betty - before Kevin and Jamie entered this world, - dedicated herself to education, sharing the joy of learning with countless kindergarten hopefuls in Country Club Hills. Upon becoming a mom - and few matched her skills as a mother - Betty dedicated her life to raising her two boys.
Later, Betty would turn her unmatched skills in the kitchen into a successful catering business, Party Party Catering, combining her passion for bringing great food to life and a unique ability to throw a tremendous party. It was far more than the food with Betty, it was about people. She needed people and if you met Betty only once, you realized you needed her.
Blessed with amazing patience and a gift to see a project come to life, Betty also drew great joy teaching others to cook and appreciate all that surrounds bringing a meal full circle
Always versed on a variety of subjects, Betty had a passion for reading and being informed. The world has yet to produce a person she could not share conversation with.
She also enjoyed a properly constructed Manhattan and its merits.
Those left to cherish Betty's memory are sons Kevin of Lake Geneva, WI and Jamie (Katy), grandchildren Dominick and Gianna of Davenport, IA and nieces and nephews, Joyce, Anna, Thomas, Grace and William, are among all who share Betty's passion for life.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Soyring and stepfather Thomas O'Toole.
Naturally, someone who loved smiles and a party, requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. The family requests that Betty's loved ones join it in celebrating her beautiful life at 1446 W. Grace St, Chicago on May 15th, 1:30 pm.

Kevin, your mother was a treasure, but I don't need to tell you that. I remember when I flew to Chicago to drive back to Colorado with you (1980s-ish) - just for fun! Your mother was so sweet to me. I'll never forget, she had a big tuna that she was preparing, and asked me if I wanted a taste. Being from Colorado I never really ate much seafood (and, only had tuna out of a can!), so I declined. Well, she wasn't going to have that and insisted that I give it a try! Wow!! Changed my thoughts on tuna rather quickly!! She was kind, and sweet, obviously highly skilled in the kitchen and filled with genuine hospitality! She will be missed, but what a joy to have had the opportunity to have met her! Cheers!
