Betty Eggleston Obituary
ILION - Betty Eggleston passed away on Friday, July 14 at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. She was 80 years old.
Born December 20, 1936, a daughter of Renwick and Frances Brown Thomas, Betty was a lifelong resident of Division Street in Ilion. She attended local schools. In 1954 she married Donald E. Eggleston, embarking together on a happy family adventure that lasted their lifetime. Betty and Don raised three children, Carol, Douglas and Jacquie.
Blessed with a close circle of friends, Bet was always ready to pour a cup of coffee at the kitchen table or the picnic table when neighbors, friends and family stopped to visit. She enjoyed camping trips and neighborhood suppers and looked forward to holidays with all the Eggleston extended family. Her favorite spot was "R" Paradise in the backyard of the family home on Division Street.
Betty was a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Eggleston, in Jacksonville, FL; her son, Douglas Eggleston (and Doug's wife, Christine), in Sackets Harbor, NY; and her youngest daughter, Jacqueline Monohan (and Jacquie's husband, Rick), in Ilion; as well as grandchildren, Brian, Ashley and James, Adrian and Lauren and Erica, Richie and Kali; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Gavin, Cole and Dodge and Joey, Paige, Olivia and Sophia. Bet is also survived by her sister, Arlene Thomas Fillhart, of Adams, NY; and her cousins on the Thomas side, who reside in the Rodman and Adams area. Betty's husband, Donald, preceded her in death, passing away in 2011.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Ilion. No calling hours are scheduled. There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Ilion.

So very sorry for the loss of Betty. My mother used to love visiting with her whenever she was at the Ilion Big M. I also miss Don as we went to the same church. They are together once more and may she rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

So sorry to hear of Betty's passing. I have known her since we were kids. Spent a lot of time at her house. I lived out of state for many years so hadn't seen her in a very long time. Will always remember the good times we had.

I grew up living around the corner from the Eggleston's. Betty was so warm and hospitable every time I was there; a great lady. Great childhood memories! I'm glad I got to see her a couple years ago when she popped into my mom's house to see her. I know she will be deeply missed.

Condolences to Carol, Doug, Jaquie, spouses, and relatives. Betty was like a second Mom. Always kind and cheery, always offered me a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich when I would be over and hang out with Doug. She will me missed.
