Shrewsbury - Audrey A. (Soares) Read died Monday, November 21, 2016 at the age of 80.

She was born in Providence, Rhode Island the daughter of the late John J. and Alice (Brown) Soares. She was a graduate of Cranston High School and earned her nursing degree from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing.

Audrey worked as a registered nurse at the Thornton Nursing Home in Northborough and later at the Elizabeth Seton Manor in Wellesley before retiring in 2003. She enjoyed trips to the sea with friends and family, winters in Vermont, and Christmas was her favorite time of year.

She was the devoted wife of the late Cyril Read; loving mother to Donna and her husband, David Mackie and Scott Read and his wife, Kathy of Whitinsville; cherished grandmother to Katlynn Read and Noah, Hannah and Mary; dear sister to Judy Ianotti, Jane Soares, Allan Soares and the late Robert Soares.

Audrey's family and friends gathered privately on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Grace Episcopal Church in Providence where her Funeral Service was celebrated by the The Reverend Lavonne Seifert. Burial followed in Seekonk Cemetery.
