John, Shannon and Andrea, We are so sorry for your profound loss of a precious wife and mother, Betty. What a beautiful person she was and what an impact her passing will and already has on this community. What an amazing lady she was! I was priveleged to have watched many games of hockey with Betty and friends in the "hockey corner" at the rink. We shared many the laughs and I know how much it is going to hurt to walk into that rink and not to see Betty sitting there smiling as she greeted person after person entering the rink to watch a game. I used to sit back and watch and be amazed as she greeted teenager after teenager after teenager going up the stairs beside where she sat, and there was not one of them who didn't stop to say hello to Betty. It was a joy to watch!I feel comforted in knowing that we all have a guardian angel in heaven watching over all of us as I am sure she entered her Eternal resting place via the express lane on a golden path due to all of her many acts of kindness shown to so many people on this earth. May your many beautiful memories be a constant source of comfort to you in this most difficult time. God bless you!

Betty,
Funny, outgoing, amazing, hardworking, caring, a friend; just few of the things she was to me and many others that knew her. It would be the best day when someone in the hallway at school said Betty was subbing for our class just because she was so nice to everyone. I'll never forget all the Jr B hockey games she was at cheering on her Pontiacs, we'd ALWAYS say hello,
i have lot's of memories in the classroom and outside the classroom with this great woman.
God called up a very special angel home that day, & i will cherish all my remembrances of her.
love you Betty, <3

John, Shannon and Andrea,
Betty was an amazing woman who looked out for me like not many have. She knew exactly what to say to make me laugh or to make me smarten up. She helped me through some tough times in my life and for that I will always be thankful. I will miss our chats, the laughs and her putting me in my place.
Momma, I still can't believe that you are gone. But I know that you are watching us from heaven and always will. I love you. You will be with me as I walk down the aisle on our big day. Please continue to help me when I need you.

Dear John, Shannon & Andrea,
Death seems so final, yet memories of Betty will remain in our hearts for forever. Please take comfort in knowing that she has touched the lives of so many Pontiac teenagers, myself included. Without her patience, determination and ability to help us learn, the French marks at PPHS would not have been as strong! She had a special way of making you laugh, smile and feel at ease. And, because of that she will never be forgotten...
Please accept my condolences.

Mrs.Petty was always a joy to talk to whenever we met. She helped our son through his french and became someone he very much respected. I personally never had her as a teacher but my children always had great stories, funny stories from her when they came home from school. Dear John, Shannon and Andrea,
Betty was a mentor, a devoted mother, an "adopted mother" to so very many and she was a hero, not only to us, but to almost every life she touched.
We have had a picture of Betty presenting Steve with the Frank Finnigan Memorial Trophy hanging on our wall for 8 years now and every time I saw her I had meant to tell her that she was on our wall of fame. Unfortunately, I never got to tell her, but it will be so fondly looked at and will certainly remain there for years to come......
There is so much that can be said about this amazing woman. She had a profound impact on our lives and will always, always be remembered. We will miss her.
Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

To John, Shannon and Andrea,
We are greatly saddened by your loss.
I know Shannon and her Mom were best friends, going to teas, Minor hockey games, the Junior B's and Midget Hockey Tournament. That's a hockey fan!
My son Scott and I had the pleasure of sitting beside Betty and Shannon when we attended the games too. She will be missed in her seat there but no doubt watching from above.
Our deepest sympathies to you all,

Mr Petty
It has been a long while since I spoke to Miss Houston inthe Admin office Philemon Wright High. She always a had a smiling face, and a consoling gesture, when she asked 'Ok Mark, what have you done now?' She always had time to chat with us, and always well respected by the students. What a lovely lady, and what a great loss to the community. My extended family had the privilege of attending school in Shawville, for which I have heard always positive stories about you and Mrs Petty.
Please accept my sincerest condolences.
Sincerely

To John, Shannon & Andrea,
Walking up for communion will never be the same again for my boys, I know this for sure. First lady on the right hand side, Betty was the first of three choir ladies to greet each of my boys by name (and never get them wrong!) and always had a warm smile for each child that passed by. Seeing Betty around kids just lit up her face. So many people have been fortunate to have had Betty as a teacher, friend, cheerleader, colleague, etc. and I wish I had had a teacher that was half as amazing as she was. And nobody was as dedicated to Shawville Hockey as Betty Petty!
But most of all, for you John, Shannon and Andrea, I hope that all the great memories you have will help to pull you through such a sad and difficult time. Know that the whole community is here beside you.

John, Shannon and Andrea,
My deepest sympathies at this time. You have lost a wife and mother and our community has lost a friend. I have many, many happy memories of Betty, as I have never not known her. From Sunday School, being one of her after school French kids, and now a member of St Paul's Congregation. I will miss her calls for 2 pies for the Harvest Supper, that I could NEVER say no to. She won't be sitting up in front of the Church with the choir anymore, but she will be there, looking down from Heaven, each and every Sunday and special occasion in the Church.
Love and prayers

Sadness because I know I (and hundreds of others) will forever miss you .
And joy because I know that you are in a better place now .
One day, we will think of you and smile, and remember how much you did for each and every one of us .
And you will look down and smile upon us from heaven, like you did from earth :)
We will always miss you Betty . You were amazing, but God needs you up there more than we need you . He needed an angel like you, and said "She is the perfect one" ? R.I.P

She carried her sense of humor with her even at her last. She knew what was coming, yet she still had the strength to laugh and put a smile on our faces. Watching hockey games, mentoring and tutoring students, or just having a casual conversation with her. She found some way to touch our lives. Any time I found out she was teaching one of my classes, that made my day. The one thing I'm going to hold on to about Betty is her one liner phrase
"Hey Betty how's it going?
"Oh it's goin' Trav, it's goin"
