Betty L. Robinson

Betty L. Robinson was born December 27th, 1938 in Macon, Mississippi. Betty departed this life on January 9th, 2009. Betty was the daughter of Mary Arkatie Williams, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Larry and her sisters, Francis Rollins and Candice Parker. Betty confessed in Christ at an early age at Cluster Baptist Church in Aliceville, Alabama. Betty relocated to St. Louis in 1958 and served at Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church before joining Mercy Seat Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James Brown, Sr., Pastor. Betty was a selfless, generous, devoted and hard working woman who always remained humble. Betty was a woman of multiple talents. She was educated in Macon, Mississippi where she received her high school diploma. She furthered her education after moving to St. Louis, where she received her state cosmetology license. The most rewarding part of her employment history, were the 45 years of dedicated service to Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Betty worked in the Department of Urology (Cysto) where she assisted attending and resident physicians in performing many surgical procedures. It was here where she excelled and achieved some of her greatest rewards. Betty was also instrumental in the training of generations of resident physicians in this department. She received many accolades from the attending physicians. She was dedicated to getting the job done well. According to one of the top Urologists at Barnes-Jewish Hospital "She brought something unique every time she worked a case. It went beyond knowledge…it was true wisdom, a rare combination of experience, intelligence and humanity". Betty Robinson will truly be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: her three children, Ronnie Robinson (Karen), Orlando Robinson and Wanda Robinson. Brothers: Johnny Hue Williams (Sally Pearl), Shelton Robinson (Lottie), Gus Robinson (Jackie), and Isaac Robinson. Sisters: Otha Mae, Nettie Glass, Marietha Windham and Gertrude Johnson. Two grandchildren: Rhyan Robinson and Craig Johnson, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends who she truly cared for.
