Betty Lou Webster Betty Lou Webster, 74, of Topeka died on October 18, 2014 at Rolling Hills Health Center. She was born on May 27, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Edgar H. and Vera A. (Wiley) Webster. She grew to adulthood on a farm in Coffey County, near Burlington, in the small town of Ottumwa, Kansas. Betty graduated from Lebo High School with the class of 1958 and from Emporia State University in 1962. She taught Home Economics during the 1962-63 school year in Topeka, was assistant to the Student Financial Aids Advisor at Emporia State University for several years and later worked in the Office of Highway Safety in Topeka. Betty was a member of the Burlington Christian Church and later at West Side Christian Church in Topeka. She once belonged to Helena Chapter #210 of the Eastern Star and served on the Advocacy council on Aging in Shawnee County. She was also a volunteer for Hillhaven, Breakthrough House, Capper Foundation and the Topeka State Hospital. Survivors include a sister, Mary Ellen Norris of Berryton and a brother, James H. Webster of Burlington, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Betty will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held on Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the Bowman-Adgate Cemetery northwest of Burlington, Kansas.
