Betty Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 4, 2024.
Betty Virginia Williams, affectionately known as Granny, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at the age of 93 in Madison, Alabama surrounded by her four surviving children. She was born on September 1, 1930, in Lancaster, Ohio, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Sheets.

On June 19, 1946, she married the love of her life George H. Williams Sr. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2010.

Granny was a strong-willed, hard working and dedicated woman who spent her life caring for her beloved family. She resided in Lancaster, Ohio for most of her life with her husband and eight children. After the passing of her husband George, she relocated to Madison, AL to live with her daughter Robin and son in law, Mark. She spent the final 14 years of her life reading daily, playing games on her ipad, playing board games with her great grandchildren, sharing family stories, countless laughter and cherished moments surrounded by the people she loved and adored. She enjoyed trips to her favorite places Homegoods, Costco, Taco Bell and McDonalds as well as a daily car ride to pick up her great-grandchildren from school and a yearly visit back to Ohio to visit with family.

Betty will be dearly missed by her four surviving children: George (Gabi) Williams Jr, Robin (Mark) Baker, Mark (Janis) Williams, Shandra (Joe) Spillman and son-in-law, Kelly Milliser. Granny leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Among those who will forever miss her are her grandchildren: Thomas (Lori) Williams, Jeremy (Dena) Milliser, Jennifer Milliser, Erin (Jason) Ross, Jacelyn (Jeremy Cain) Williams, Eric Baker, Joseph Morris, Jevin (Anna) Williams, Lyssa Morris, Kylee Williams, Chantelle Williams, Cassandra Brentlinger, Mike Williams, Todd Williams, Katy Williams, Shannon Williams, and Matt Williams. 36 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Granny was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, George H. Williams Sr, as well as her daughters Lynette Williams Adams and Sheryl Milliser, sons Michael Williams and Gregory Williams, three brothers and one sister.

A graveside service for the family will take place this summer, providing an opportunity for loved ones to gather and remember Granny's remarkable life.

While we will forever miss her here on earth, we know the first words she heard in heaven were "What took you so long, Ginny."
