Mrs. Betty York, age 92, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on October 12, 1932, she was a lifelong resident of Nashville and maintained strong ties to her community throughout her life.

Betty attended Cohn High School and later pursued studies at the University of Tennessee - Nashville. Her deep faith guided her life, and she was a devoted member of Woodmont Christian Church, where she found spiritual strength and fellowship.

As a young woman, she was a model for Cain-Sloan department store; She transitioned to Davidson County Election Commission, but the majority of her service was with Metro Social Services. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader and homeroom mom for many years. But her favorite hobby was donating many crocheted afghans to Catholic Charities, Under the Bridge Ministry and Nashville Food Project.

Family was at the heart of Betty's world. She is survived by her daughter, Lillian Diane Tucker, and son-in-law, Bill Tucker; grandchildren Heather Tucker (Ben Brown) and William T. Tucker II (A.C. Shilton); great-grandchildren Ryan Oster and Lauren Brittain (Cooper); and great-great-grandchild Emerson Quinn Tucker, with another great-great-grandchild expected soon.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Fuller; brother, James Stanley Fuller; grandson, James S. Fuller Jr.; and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Beth Baxter for her compassionate care during Betty's final years. Deep appreciation is also given to the team at Alive Hospice-both those who supported her at home and those at the hospice facility in Nashville-for their kindness and dedication. Special thanks are offered to Bobbie Jones for her loving friendship and care. Additional thanks are offered to Fire Chief Tony Garmon for his care and friendship.

A graveside service will held on September 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane. Rev. Farrell Mason will conduct the service.
