Bettye Sue Williams was born in Laurel, MS. Bettye pursued studies in nursing at Mississippi Valley State and Natchez Nursing School. She worked over 30 years at Baton Rouge General Hospital as a nurse in the skilled nursing unit. She was also a faithful member of the Second Liners Mardi Gras Club of Biloxi.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey C. Williams, Sr. and parents, Joe and Lizzie Eades. In her last days, her children and grandson, Aubrey Lott, honored her by caring for her as she had done for them and many others whose lives were touched by her gift for compassionate care. On Wednesday, April 4, 2018, Bettye, our Lady Queen, was called home to receive her crown of glory at the age of 79.
She is survived by her daughters: Linda W. (Albert Sr.) Newsome of Gulfport, MS, Brenda W. Lott of Biloxi, MS and Felicia A. Williams of Baton Rouge, LA; sons: Dr. Aubrey C. (Robin) Williams Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA and Dr. Willie G. (April) Williams of Nashville, TN; sisters: Dorothy Wilson of Belzoni, MS, Mazie (Tony) Andrews of Laurel, MS, Nina Johnson of Laurel, Jaycelyn (Ken) Bailey of Hattiesburg, MS, Kim (C.J.) Jackson of Laurel; one brother: Joe Edward (Sarah) Eades of Lakewood, CA; one sister-in-law: Deloris (Al) of Chicago, IL; 8 grandchildren: Joseph Lott, Aubrey Lott, Albert (LaShonda) E. Newsome, Jr., and AC (Patrai) Newsome, Rachel Williams, Aubrey James Williams, Rylee Williams, Edward Charles Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be 11AM Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. James BC in Gulfport. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Services will 11AM Friday, April 13, 2018 at Winnfield Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at the funeral home two hours prior to service time.
