Beverley Marie DALE

August 30, 1941 - October 5, 2021

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Beverley Marie Dale (nee Jackle) our sweet wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. Although a long battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's gave us much time to reflect on her importance in our lives, we struggle to articulate the depth of our loss.

Our father, Wayne Dale, and our mother met in high school at the tender age of 18, and spent the following 61 years raising three girls, six grandsons and two granddaughters, working at A&P together, and travelling the world with family and friends. When mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and later Parkinson's, Dad became, and remained Mom's faithful advocate and caregiver. When it became too difficult to care for her at home, he travelled to Extendicare every day patiently feeding her for two hours or more. In sickness and in health was a vow he took seriously, and he never ever wavered.

In spite of losing her own mother when she was just 20 and newly married, she seemed to know instinctively how to raise her daughters, Brenda Mosteller, Paula Gallant, and Angela Ormerod to be strong and resilient women. She sewed our clothes, bussed with us weekly to the YWCA for swim lessons, and assured us that "some days were diamonds" —her catch-all phrase that seemed to fit every situation. Her love was unconditional and her support, complete. She had strong opinions and loved to voice them, but ultimately she trusted each of us to make the best decisions for ourselves. And no better decisions were made in her mind, then the expansion of her family to include her three cherished sons-in-law: Bob Mosteller, Randall Gallant, and David Ormerod.

Her grandchildren, Ashley (Daniel), Alex (Ellen), Anna, Thomas, Colin, Mark, Tyler and Nolan were the loves of her life. Her greatest joy was spending time with them, hearing their stories and gathering all their hugs and kisses. They, in turn, adored her and will miss her and honour her for the rest of their lives.

Mom was a person of integrity, a true friend, who was honest and loyal, and considered her lifelong friends an extension of her family. She adored her much younger brother, Brian Jackle, and enjoyed getting to know her B.C. And Alberta nieces and nephews through handwritten letters, phone calls, and a special trip out west for her 75th birthday. She valued the relationships she built with her sisters and brothers-in-law and their families. Mom loved, and was much-loved by all.

Mom was a very generous person, especially with her time. When she retired from A&P, she volunteered at the Terry Berry library until she and Dad moved to the Wellingstone, where she began her time as a volunteer at the Bob Kemp Hospice. This position filled her latter years with a strong sense of purpose.

We are so thankful to the wonderful staff at Extendicare who always cared for mom with kindness and respect, acting as our loving hearts and hands especially when Covid kept us apart. Special hugs to Ashley and Stephanie who powered through technical glitches during our video chats when that was all the pandemic would allow. We feel very blessed to have found a home away from home for mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bob Kemp Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
