Beverly Barlow Steinberg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2025.

Beverly Susan Barlow Steinberg, 66, died August 15th, 2025, in her hometown of Louisville, Ky.

Her inspiring spirit and joie de vivre never left her during her brave ten-year ordeal with breast cancer.

Born February 19th, 1959, the youngest of four siblings, Bev grew up in the Cedar Hill house on Fegenbush Lane. Her love of all things nature and animals was spawned from those endless days of playing outside, exploring, getting into good trouble and breeding German Shepherds. She attended Moore and Central high schools before attending the Florida Bible College in Hollywood Florida.

Beverly so loved to sing and had an exceptional voice. In her youth she traveled with the Christian singing group Brotherly Love throughout the US, Canada & Mexico. In the eighties She worked delivering singing telegrams and could be found on any given night sitting in with the City Lights Band singing 'Danny's All-Star Joint'. Beverly had a Brillant sense of humor and a quick wit that led her to emcee and perform occasional sets at the Comedy Club. She adored the culture and comradery of that brotherhood of laughter.

Beave moved to Vero Beach, Fl. in the nineties and found her second home next to the ocean. It was here that she began her 33-year commitment to sobriety, which was of the utmost importance to her. She met her husband and moved to his hometown of Tromso Norway, where for ten years she reveled in the beauty of that country, mastered the Norwegian language, and traveled extensively throughout Europe. She returned to the states in 2012 and back to her hometown in 2019.

Bev never met a stranger and cultivated many friendships wherever she went. She was a proud redhead, could not own too many scarves or socks, or collect too many crystals and seashells. Above all she never missed a chance to show her appreciation for other people's kindnesses.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Fred Duane Barlow MD, and Anne Reiley Milne. She is survived by her siblings, Joan Barlow Wagner (Dave), Jan Clare Barlow, Drew Frederick Barlow (Wendy), niece Stephanie Barlow Wilkins, and countless extended family and friends.

Please join us to share your stories and memories of Beave's life on Sunday, September 28th from 3 to 5pm at The Bristol Bar and Grille - 2nd floor - 1304 Bardstown Road Louisville. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Ky. Humane society. Very Special thanks to

Hosparus and The Hildegard House for their gentle and respectful care through Bev's last days.

She brought us joy, and we loved her well.

Until we meet again...

My deepest sympathies to Bev's family and friends during this difficult time.
I will always remember Bev's incredible humor and the memories we made when touring together in "Brotherly Love" during the summer of 1977! May God give you all much comfort and peace.

To my dearest Bev, the most vivacious, witty, fun-loving friend with a mega-watt personality; you lit up every room with your laughter and charm! Yes, YOU! The last 10 years were fraught with alot of uncertainties I know, but you carried it with grace and a sense of peace, offering ME comfort at times. Those of us left to mourn your passing are deeply aware that the emptiness we feel is because you were always there, always present and always just a phone call away. You're a hard habit to break dear friend, so I'll chat you up in my prayers. Rest well in your new heavenly body Beverly. Thank you for being my friend. I'll love you forever.

My deepest sympathy. Bev was a treasure and always a joy to be with. My husband Paul and I were friends from FBC and Brotherly Love.
