Beverly T. Byers DARLINGTON- Beverly Ann Turner Byers, age 71, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday October 30 at Calvary Baptist Church with interment following in Florence Memorial Gardens cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born August 29, 1940 in Hartsville, SC she was the eldest daughter of the late Charles F. Turner Sr. and Dortha Clark Turner. She attended Drexel High School and Gardner-Webb College in N.C. and majored in music. She was the organist and choir director of the Darlington Presbyterian Church from 1972 to 1983. In 1983 she established her own photography business out of her home, where she became an award winning professional photographer. She continued this until her retirement in 2010. She was the loving wife of the late Charles A. Byers. Charles and Beverly celebrated 50 years of marriage on February 5, 2010. Together they sang for many church services and special events. Both music majors in college, the Byers sang for lay renewals and recorded three albums: "Amazing Grace", "Sweet, Sweet, Spirit" and "One day at a Time". Beverly attended Calvary Baptist Church in Florence where she was in the Handbell Choir. Mrs. Byers is survived by four children: Charles Aubrey "Chet" (Nancy) Byers, II of Acworth, GA, Robyn B. Hoffmeyer of Florence, SC, Michael Darrin (Andrea) Byers of Moreland, GA, and Karyn B. (Patrick) Gabbey of Bluffton, SC; fourteen grandchildren: Chris (Allison) Byers of Asheville, NC, Taylor Dee Byers of Winnsboro, SC, Bryson Byers-Cutrer of Waco, TX, Nicholas Kilmer of Fort Meade, MD, Linda (David) Barnes of Valdosta, GA, Stacy Hoffmeyer and Brandon Hoffmeyer of Florence, SC, Amanda E. (David) Patch of Camp Lejuene, NC, Ryan Eagle of Moreland, GA, Brooke Gabbey, Beth Gabbey and Joshua Gabbey of Bluffton, SC; three great-grand-children: Abram Barnes and Alivia Barnes of Valdosta, GA, and Hailey Byers of Asheville, NC, two brother-in-Laws, a brother Charles " Chuck" (Jutta) Turner of Greeley, Co, a sister Marilyn T. (Bob) Sieli of Salem, MO and a nephew, Kurt Salaman. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Saturday, October 29 at the funeral home. Karyn and Family,

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your mother. I have many fond memories of singing in the DPC choir with Beverly directing and playing the organ. She was a wonderful Christian woman, a fine musician, and a great band parent. May God comfort and strengthen you all during your time of grieving.
