Beverly Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 3, 2024.
Beverly Michelle Smith (née Hutchins), aged 48, passed away on July 1, 2024, in Richland, South Carolina. Born on September 6, 1975, in Lexington, she was a cherished daughter of Mike and Kim Hutchins.

Beverly's vibrant life was marked by her roles as a licensed auctioneer, real estate agent, and dedicated caretaker. Her careers perfectly aligned with her innate ability to connect with people, caring for their needs, and her exceptional communication skills. Beverly's professional journey was complemented by her education at Midlands Tech and her certification in auctioneering from LLR.

Her personality was a beacon of kindness and selflessness. Beverly's spirit was characterized by her strength and independence; she was a resilient woman who believed in the power of perseverance. Her love for her family was profound, instilling a can-do attitude in her three children, Zachery (Sarah), Joshua (Farria), and Allison (Scott), and her cherished dog, Precious Smith.

Beverly's life was enriched by her hobbies, which included shopping, visiting the beach and the mountains, and collecting weapons. She spent cherished moments with loved ones, which were the cornerstone of her leisure activities.

She was a devoted member of Red Bank United Methodist Church, where she found spiritual solace and community. Previously, she had been part of the congregation at Platt Springs United Methodist.

Beverly leaves behind a loving family: her children; parents; siblings, Micheal and David (Debbie) Hutchins; grandmother Vera Pereira; companion Jim Metze; best friend Cindy Cutten; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ken & Helen Pereira and DC & Betty Hutchins, and aunt Gale Hutchins.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, July 9th, at Red Bank United Methodist Church, located at 2909 Old Barnwell Road, Lexington, SC 29073, beginning at 5 PM.

Beverly's legacy of love, strength, and generosity will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She used to paint my nails purple. Our parents were friends and I loved going to their house to play with Micky, Davie and most importantly Beverly. Even in high school she never treated me as anything but a friend. I'm so sorry and will pray for y'all.

We will always remember her loving, caring spirit and her precious smile and giggle. I don´t think I ever saw her when she was not smiling. Now she is sitting at the feet of Jesus and smiling at Him. She was a special young lady.

My first memory of Beverly was when she was in my third grade class at Congaree Elementary. Such a sweet young girl. I ran into her years later at an auction. Kim, Mike and family I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember meeting Beverly and talking with Beverly about doing "too much" at church and encouraging her to say "no" if she was being asked to do more than she was able to comfortably do. She replied that she had no problem standing up for herself. She said that with such confidence in herself. I was impressed. I loved to see her smile and hear her laugh. Both were infectious. Go with God, Beverly. You will be missed. Debbie Jones
