BIAGIO VITI Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 8, 2021.
VITI, BIAGIO June 17, 1932 – February 6, 2021 It is with the deepest sorrow and great love that we mourn the passing of Biagio Viti, at the age of 88 on Saturday, February 6, 2021. He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Giulia (nee Leva). Devoted father of (the late) Maria, Franco (Frank) and his wife Jennifer (Steele), Mario and his wife Maria (Mary) (Guglietti), and Pietro (Peter). Cherished Grandfather/Nonno of Maria Lisa and her husband Giovanni (Cerasa), Frank Junior, Stephen, Elysa, Anthony, Sophia, and Matthew. Proud great-grandfather of Vincenzo, Lorenzo and Rosa. Loving step- grandfather to Christopher (Mitchinson), James (Mitchinson) and Alexandra (Wood). Biagio will be dearly missed by his many relatives and friends in Canada, Italy and the United States. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated and loyal friend to many. He was known for his integrity, honesty, sense of humour, and altruism throughout his life. A loving, caring, and generous man he touched many people's hearts. Biagio was born on June 17, 1932 in Boville Ernica, a town in the province of Frosinone, Italy. He came to Canada to start a new life when he was 20 years old, leaving behind a country torn apart by war. Although very proud of his Italian heritage, Biagio fell and remained deeply in love with his adopted home and was a proud Canadian all his life. Biagio and his wife Giulia eventually settled in North York (Toronto), purchased a home, and established a family. Biagio was dedicated to his family, living his life to the fullest, always keeping a watchful eye on the family he adored. He was a humble and kind man, with strong values. An accomplished and enthusiastic plantsman and gardener, Biagio loved sharing the fruits of his trees and the vegetables from his garden with his family and friends. He was a true outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and outdoor activities, and passed this love on to his sons and his grandchildren. Biagio actively supported his church and various community organizations. He had an unwavering belief in God and was devoted to his Catholic faith as a parishioner at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church (Toronto). We are comforted to know that Biagio will rejoice at being reunited with his beautiful daughter Maria, who passed away at age 6, as well as many other loved ones. In lieu of flowers, a gift in memory of Biagio can be made to St. Phillip Neri Parish Church (Toronto) at www.stphilipneri.ca/st-philip-neri-parish/donate or Parkinson Canada (formerly Parkinson Society of Canada) at www.parkinson.ca/getinvolved/waystogive Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private family Visitation and Burial on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. A private Memorial Mass will be webcast for all to join via computer at 10:30 a.m. Information can be found at www.catholic-cemeteries.ca/obituaries The family will host a Memorial Mass and celebration of Biagio's life at a future date to be determined.

I was very saddened to learn of the passing of the wonderful, smiling, fun and proud Biagio. A great family man, for sure: loving husband and proud father of 3 fantastic sons, who expanded the Viti family to include beloved daughters in law and grandchildren. The obituary captures the essence of this fine man. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Ciao Giulia! Tua cugina Annunziatina Rufa.
