Am just finding this record regarding Mr Berner's passing. To the family I am so sorry for your loss. My father's sister was employed by the Nathan Berner family as a housekeeper and child care provider. Her name was Alberta Gordon from Spotsylvania, Virginia. You have my prayers. Ellie, so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband, Bill. I was on Coach Berner's basketball team at LHS when he first starting coaching there in 1956. He was a wonderful person and I still often think of him, even after all these years. I remember receiving the "Con Edison Athlete of the Week" award while on his team. He and I use to shoot around during practice seeing who could outdo the other. This was 58 yrs ago and I still remember the comradeship we had with each other. I remember first meeting you at his home in Lake Peekskill. He was so proud of you. Coach Berner remembered me around 1990 when he retired, as I read a newspaper article about his retirement and he mentioned me (Bob Jewell '56) as one of his all-time best. May he rest in peace.
