Bill McINTOSH Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Jun. 15 to Jun. 16, 2018.
McINTOSH, Bill
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Bill McIntosh on June 6, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded by his parents and seven siblings, survived by Ethel, his loving wife of over sixty years, his three children Doug, Rod (Linda) and Lisa, and three almost perfect grandsons Liam, Stuart and Colm. Bill was born in Rossburn, Manitoba on July 31, 1929. The day after he graduated from high school he started work at the Bank of Toronto where one of his first duties was to fill the ink wells and put out clean blotters. By the time he retired as senior vice president Pacific Division of The Toronto Dominion Bank computers had entered the banking system. He loved banking and had a successful career which he always attributed in large part to the great people he worked with. Next to his family and banking Bill loved sports - he played baseball and hockey as a boy and was always proud to tell people that his team won the Junior B championship 1947-48. He was a fast if not exactly smooth skier, he regularly shot his age on the golf course and he was a much sought partner on the dance floor. As for his bridge game, it was something else. We will miss him more than words can tell. A celebration of life will be held at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, on Sunday, June 24 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Online tributes may be expressed at www.kearneyfs.com

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear this. I just found out today from an email Elin sent. I would have come to the service had I known. My deepest sympathy to you and hugs, Catherine

Liz and I learned the sad news while in Europe and are sorry we missed the celebration of Bill's life. He was a boss I admired and respected from whom I learned to have the answer to any of his questions close at hand something I was never very good at. We send you Ethel and your family our deepest condolences. Mike Busch

Dear Ethel - sorry to have missed the celebration of life. My thoughts and prayers are with you, the children and grandchildren, at this sad time. Bill will always be remembered for his positivity and his caring: he treated each person as if they were the only one in the room.

I remember Bill for his enthusiasm, intellect, toughness, competitiveness and compassion. He was a great leader and relationship builder. He had gravitas. He cared about the people: staff and customers. He made a big impact on people and the Bank. He was a great man. To Ethel and all of the family, my deepest condolences. Rest In Peace Bill.

Dear Ethel:

Bill was an excellent banker, liked by his fellow workers and his clients. You both took on a tough challenge in California and we all learned that TD had to go big when we re-entered the US market years later.

Heather joins me in sending our sincere sympathies and condolences to you and your family.

Dear Ethel and Family
My sincere condolences to each of you. I've never forgotten our time in Winnipeg when Ken was with the TD Bank. Ken had great respect for Bill and always enjoyed his company. Ethel, I remember our 3 boys swimming in your pool and the great fun we had that summer. May the Lord bless you as you grieve the loss of a great man.

Blessings

I will miss him. To me he always was "The TD Bank" and as the years went by I came to know the man and enjoyed his sunny disposition and sense of humor.

Ethel and Family
Our condolences and deepest sympathy on Bill's passing. He was a tough man in his own right but to his credit you always knew where you stood with him and he was respected. He will be missed my a lot of people who had the privilege of working with him as we did.
Sorry we are unable to come over for the Celebration of his life as we are in the process of moving our daughter that weekend but our thoughts will be with you all.
