Billie Lou Stokes Fuller

Billie Louise Stokes-Fuller, 95 of Amarillo passed away January 14, 2013. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Dr. Jim Smith officiating
Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Billie was born Billie Louise Malloy on April 7, 1917 in Branson, Colorado. She was the 8th of 10 children born to Oliver Lee "Pat" and Rosa Valeria Roberts Malloy. Billie attended school in Trinidad, Colorado and received her degree from Colorado State University in Greeley, Colorado. She was the first manager of the Montgomery Ward store in Borger. She held that position for over 14 years. During that period, she met her future husband, Ben H. Stokes. Ben had moved to Borger during the oil boom period. He started a successful music store that later became Stokes Furniture Store on the Main Street in Borger. When Ben enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1942, Billie managed all his businesses for him during his four years of military service. Billie and Ben were married May 12, 1951 in Borger. Together, they were dynamic in their business ventures. In addition to acquiring several farms in Oklahoma and properties in Borger, they ran huge cattle ranching business, and made their fortune in real estate, oil and gas wells, and the bail bond business. They rand a bail bond business in Borger and in Amarillo. Ben was a victim of homicide in September of 1979. Billie continued the success of the family businesses following Ben's death. In addition to her busy work life, Billie was an active member of the Sheriff's Association of Texas, Women of the Moose, and Business and Professional Women's Club of Borger for many years and was a member of Royal Neighbors. She won Senior Regent for the Women of the Moose in 1958. Billie was married to Raymond C. Fuller on February 18, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Amarillo and Ray helped her manage her holdings. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2010. Billie was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ben and husband Ray; six sisters and two brothers. Billie is survived by her beloved sister, Eva Lorene Robinson of Amarillo; nephew, Robert Dwane Cranmore and wife Marlene of Rapid City; nephew, Cecil Mann Gregg and wife Camille of Texas, South Dakota; niece Betty Lue Woods and husband Jim of Parsons, Kansas; niece, Lois Lorene Demuth and husband Jerry of Blair, Nebraska; as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces; also by step-sons, Nick and Larry Fuller; step-daughter, Lorie Wacha; one step-granddaughter and 3 step-grandson, all from Minnesota.
