Milledgeville - Services for Billie L. Hern were conducted, Monday, January 12, at 7 pm in the Onley-Wilson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, Ky. A committal service was held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.Mr. Hern retired from IBM as a Manufacturing Engineer while living while living in Lexington, KY, transferring from Durham, NC. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing and working in his garage. He was a 33rd degree Master Mason and a member of the Royal Order of the Noble Shrine. Mr. Hern was also a World War II Navy Veteran, serving on the USS LST 957 from which he ran a landing craft in the invasion of Okinawa. Surviving him are his son, Dr. Kelly Hern of Milledgeville, GA; daughter, Vanessa Hern Aitken of Oxford, NC and Step-son, Gregory Thompson of Dayton, Ohio.
