Billy Wayne Butler, age 78, passed from this life at his home in Odessa, TX on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on Thursday, July 13, 1944 to the late Ernest Butler and Rosie Jane (Edwards) Holman. His parents taught him to respect others and work hard. He moved to Odessa in 1960 and met and married his beloved wife, Kay Allen in 1967.
Billy always said, "If you are going to do something; do it right." He had a great work ethic and worked in the yard or building things when not at work as an engineer supervisor for Exxon Mobil. He was a loving, giving person who would give the shirt off of his back to help others. Billy loved his family and treasured them above everything else. They were always first place in his heart.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife of almost 56 years: Kay Butler of Odessa; daughters: Shelia Butler of Weatherford and Sue Foust of Odessa; brother: Kenny Butler of Oklahoma, and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Kathelyn Burley, Josie Ogles, Edward Butler, Bodie Butler, Gary Butler, and Vicky Jones.
Memorial services will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:00 am. Pastor Mike Bartlett will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West and condolences may be sent to the family online at acreswestfuneral.com.

Uncle Wayne always had a kind and gentle heart. He was strength for his family. I've always looked up to and admired Uncle Wayne. They truly don't make them like him anymore. I know that he opened his eyes and was in the loving arms of the Lord and into a beautiful reunion. My love and prayers are with Aunt Kay, Shelia, Sue, and their families, all the babies. I love you all. What a precious man Heaven has gained. ~ With all my heart, Terri

I am saddened by Billy’s passing. I worked along with Billy at the XTO field office at Goldsmith when I worked at Wilson Supply. He was a great man and easy to work with. He made everyone around him better. My prayers are with his family.
