Billy Joe CraigBilly Joe Craig, 71, of Laurel, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at Guardian Angel in Raleigh.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Memory Chapel, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Rev. Eddie Bryant will officiate.He entered on duty in the Cookville, Tenn. office of the Social Security Administration as a Service Representative Trainee. After working in Cookville, Tenn., he transferred to Laurel in June 1974. He was promoted to Claims Representative in April 1975, transferring to the Gulfport office. Later that year Mr. Craig transferred back to the Laurel office where he remained until his retirement. He served in the U. S. Army and was of the Methodist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrain J. Craig and Anita Jernigan Craig; and a sister, Madrian Craig Bradshaw.He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Craig of Laurel; son, Sam Craig of Oxford; step-son, Mark Quinn (Joanna) of Taylorsville; step-grandchild, Brady Quinn; brother, Jack Craig of Belden; and a host of nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Ricky McCraw, Todd Chambers, Kelly Pugh, Robert Dale Stringer, Bill Hester, Caley Hawkins, and Keith Stringer.To sign or view the family guestbook, visit www.leadercall.com Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of service on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Memory Chapel of Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
