Billy Nelson Obituary
A memorial service will be held at Capstone Church, 4115 Watermelon Road, Northport, Alabama at 10:30 am on July 24th. Dr. Scott Payne and Dr. Kenneth Cheek will officiate.
Billy was loved by all his family and friends. He was born on October 4, 1938, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Wyman and Vivian Nelson. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and attended the University of Alabama. Billy worked for Sears for nearly 37 years, retiring in 1997. He was an active member of Northridge Baptist Church in Northport, Alabama.
Billy was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Billie Nelson, his parents, son Mark Manford Nelson, brothers; William Delmas Nelson and Otis Nelson, and sister, Dorphine Mosely.
He is survived by his brother Maxwell Nelson, his son Drew (April) Nelson, daughter Robin (Scott) Payne, and grandchildren Allyson (Nick) Householder, Mark Nelson, Emily Payne, and Kerri Payne, and many nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alabama Softball at BAMA Softball Walk-off Club, PO Box 2188, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, or contact [email protected] to arrange a donation.
