Billy Sonnier Obituary

Billy Joe was born January 26, 1960 in Sulphur, La. to Willrey A. Sonnier, Sr. and Waiver Chaisson Sonnier.
He was a lifelong resident of Sulphur and worked construction locally and in California. Billy remained a bachelor but helped raise and loved his family's children including Janice, Danika, Casey, Cody, Tabby, Amanda, Keely, Haley, and Madison. He was very grateful for all those who shared their children with him. He was compassionate and affectionate. He was also caretaker of his mom and dad until their deaths. His passion was cooking at which he excelled.
Survivors include sister Carolyn Vincent, who was like a second mother; brothers Will Sonnier and wife Pal, and Jack Sonnier, all of Sulphur; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great's; special friends David Domingue, Debbie Rising, Debbie Bright, Randy Miller, and Peggy Guthrie; godchildren Sharon Thibodeaux, Monika McInnis, Jay Dale Sonnier, Brook Jordan, Danika Lopez, Tabatha Burch, Amanda Stewart, Joey Clements, Keely East, Cody Gustin and Casey Sonnier; and special cousins Sandra Gustin, Louise Moak, and Diana Istre, who were always there for him.
He was preceded in death by his mon and dad in 2002; sister Wilma LeDoux in 2002; brothers Edgar C. Sonnier in 2006 and Marty J. Sonnier in 2007.
His funeral services will be under the direction of Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, from 9 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, 602 N. Claiborne St., Sulphur, La. Burial will be at Big Woods Cemetary in Edgerly, La.

Will, Connie and Jack,

After spending the Christmas holidays with my family in Sulphur, I flew back to Minnesota on January 2. I'm sorry I was not able to attend Billy's funeral. He was loved by so many and will be missed. I will keep you in my prayers.

Dear Connie.
Our Daddy Bill Will Be Greatly Missed, Just Friday was the last day I got to talk to him, telling me I better get to the doctor and me telling him...and he told me he wasn't going anywhere..not leaving me...Not Prepared to hear them words that u told Me...He was my second dad and Madison's only daddy...He will be missed and he is greatly missed now..Love ya'll always and forever...

To all the Sonnier's and their Families...

My thoughts and Prayers are with you all at this most difficult time, especially Connie and dear Janice. I am very sorry for your tremendous loss of Billy. His death was very unexpected and has certainly left a viod in my heart that will always hold the many memories we shared. He was a wonderful Friend and beautiful light of God, Bless you all and know I will keep his larger than life spirit alive in side my heart forever,
