Billy Patrick Thrift,96, passed away June 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Irene Gooch Thrift and parents, Cora Elverson and Vernon Amos Thrift. He is survived by his children Michael Lee Thrift (Lynn) of Little Switzerland, N.C. and Patricia Ann Nolan (Michael) of Danville, Calif. Billy was born on March 17, 1921 in Winston Salem, N.C. He served his country in the United States Navy in the Signal Corps from 1942 and was honorably discharged in October of 1945. He retired in as a manager of data processing and programing. Billy was an avid boater and deep-sea fisherman. He was a great dad, husband, boss and advocate for Disabled American Veterans.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, Va. 23229. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow.
