Billy Tompkins Obituary
Mr. Tompkins was born and resided in Franklin County all of his life and was a member of Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church. He was retired from American Bakeries after 25 years of service. For several years, he owned and operated a sports memorabilia shop.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at Pinkard Funeral Home chapel, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating will be Johnny Richardson. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July, 19, 2009, at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Faye Smith Tompkins; son, Joel Tompkins and wife, Suzanne, Russellville; sisters, Evelyn Bragwell and Jeanette James, both of Russellville; brother, James R. Tompkins and wife, Joyce, Russellville; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Maggie.
Pallbearers will be Danny Gist, Gerald Smith, Rickey Smith, Billy Crews, Marlin Landers, Harold Hazle and James Ergle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Leona Tompkins.
He was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed.
A special thanks to the third-floor nurses at Helen Keller Hospital.
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, is directing.
