Your Spirit Lives Within Our Souls Forever
Our BJ was gifted to us for 24 years of a very special journey that we shared together on this earth. BJ spent his entire lifetime in many roles at locations around the globe trying to influence the thoughts of others so that they too, would learn to appreciate the true beauty of life. While doing so, he experienced tremendous loss and continuous physical pain watching and knowing the people and things that he loved were leaving him, being exploited and depleted. BJ always shared that should his life be short and he leave us at a young age, he hoped his work and legacy would continue on forever more to help people listen, understand, and begin to honour the beauty of life and the world he so loved and fought to sustain.
On May 28, 2014 Mother Earth awakened from her Winter's rest, the buds of Spring evolved and the smell of fresh grass filled the air. With the lasting hugs of his dogs and the neighing of his horses and donkeys BJ left us to rest in peace. BJ transcended this natural world after accomplishing major visionary purposes in his young life and is now at peace, free of earthly pain. His wish was that we all understand that he would be at peace when all of us could be at peace for and with him.
BJ's dreams were magical in nature and will continue to be grown and nurtured by our honouring of his passions, what he lived for, what he was all about, as well as his living wishes. As BJ's parents we will ensure that BJ's desire to continue to have his messages heard and his dreams fulfilled will happen with your help.
Every part of nature and humanity that breathed air and felt life from the Arctic to the Antarctic was touched by BJ's presence. The impact of his legacy, will come from how he cherished, loved and needed all of us to awaken and protect Mother Earth for the benefit of future generations. Selections from a documentary, which has been in production this past year, about BJ's life, will be part of a Memorial Celebration of BJ's Life to be held in the future. The date will be announced in an upcoming obituary. In the interim, we are sure that BJ himself would be humbled to know that he is being honoured at Canada's Top Twenty Under Twenty Youth In Motion National Awards Ceremony on June 5th in Toronto, which he, himself was a recipient of, in 2008.

Dear Betty Ann & Ken,
My heart goes to out to you in this sad, sad time. BJ was such a fine young man in the truest sense of the word. He lived his life as we wish we all could – confident, brave, principled and with a great sense of humour. When I was SK Minister of Environment I got to know BJ through his work with the Green Strategy in 2005. His leadership was wonderful! And of course that was just a small part of his contribution to make this world a much better, greener place!

BJ and I were pretty good friends in high school... I'd lost touch with him after the first couple of years at university and I was really shocked to hear that he passed away. He was a really funny and quick witted guy and I know he left an impression on anyone he met. I hope he found peace. I am so sorry for your loss.

How ironic was it that I learned of BJ's death while on a student trip to Grasslands National Park. I cannot imagine the loss you are feeling and can only hope that the collective wishes and fond memories of those of us who knew BJ will help in some small way. He was a fine young man, a privilege to teach, someone who always kept me on my toes in the most positive of ways. Whether it was building the ultimate student desk, or reveling in the blessing of a late spring snowfall, his creativity and outlook had an impact on all of us.

I first met BJ in 2008 at encounters with Canada. It was my first time doing that sort of thing and really putting my self out there. Bj was my main friend at encounters and I really looked up to him as a mentor and friend during that program and we grew close during that one week. I met BJ when judging him at debate tournaments. I was very impressed with his debate and speaking skills, but there was something else about him I found so captivating. I made a point of speaking to him afterwards - he was one of the most genuine, considerate, compassionate individuals I'd met. He was so worldly for someone so young.
