CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at a 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Blaine Jude Holtzapple, age 46, who passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 9:22 a.m. at his residence in Carencro.

The Rev. Msgr. Russell J. Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Blaine Jude Holtzapple was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Carencro for most of his life. His gift of patience and understanding of horses contributed to a lifelong passion with them. He worked tirelessly and contributed his days breaking racehorses, watching them race and celebrating their victories. Many great races were watched alongside his mother, his best friend of all.

He loved spending time with his family and barbecuing for them. He especially adored his daughters and great nieces and nephews whom he showed a gentle love and patience with as well. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he was a cowboy among cowboys. He has left this world too soon but will never be forgotten. We will picture you riding into the sunset every evening and will miss your gentle, quiet spirit.

Survivors include his parents, Wayne and Jeanette Zaunbrecher Holtzapple of Carencro; two daughters, Josie and Lucy Holtzapple of Apopka, FL; and four sisters, Jennifer Richey and husband, Rocky, of Carencro, Cynthia "Tweety" Comeaux of Cankton, Cheryl Duhon and husband, Dan, of Carencro, Joan Breaux and husband, John, of Lafayette. He also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, a special friend, Lisa Sonnier and the mother of his children, Tina Holtzapple.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Clavelle; one nephew, Scotty Comeaux; one niece, Daphne Rene' Duhon; maternal grandparents, Nicholas and Josephine Zaunbrecher; and paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Sherman Holtzapple.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 AM Friday until service time on Friday.
