Blanche Todd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 19 to Jun. 20, 2018.
Lubbock- Blanche Yvonne Read Todd, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on June 15, 2018 after an illness. Born in Lubbock on March 6, 1931 to Wesley and Marie Kathrine Read, Blanche lived her entire life in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by family and so many close, dear friends. Blanche attended Southern Methodist University where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and was a SMU Beauty Nominee. She returned to Lubbock and married Worth Trammel in 1951, and they immediately began raising a family. Blanche and her parents introduced her children to the beauty and peace of the great outdoors through regular trips to the Rocky Mountains. Blanche married Allen Todd of Lubbock in 1982, and the former World War II Normandy glider pilot became the light and love of her life. Mom and Allen spent many happy years together, blending two families, traveling, and spoiling kids and grandkids. Until her illness, she was very active first at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and later for many years at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Blanche unconditionally loved and gave to her community and her family for 87 years. Blanche is survived by son Stephen Trammel and his wife Cathy; son Mark Trammel; daughter Marie Kathrine Rowins and her husband Adam; son Ron A. Todd and his wife Laurie; grandchildren Lindsay Trammel, Read Trammel, Sydney Shavor, Griffin Shavor, Ryan Rowins; and Nicole Bailey and her husband Eric; and great-grandchildren Amara Bailey and Kai Bailey. Mom was preceded in death by her young twins Valerie Trammel and Louis Ray Trammel, her husband Allen Todd, and her son Robert Trammel. We all miss her loving presence, but we know that love is eternal and Mom will always be with us through that love. Mom and Allen are reunited, and are already planning to go dancing at the Red Raider Club up there to celebrate their new life together. Valerie, Louis Ray and Robert are with them. A memorial service is scheduled for July 14, 2018 at 4pm at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, located at 2807 42nd Street, Lubbock, Texas 79413. Memorial contributions are welcome, and the family suggests the Silent Wings Museum, 6202 N. Interstate 27, Lubbock, Texas 79403.

I'm so sorry to hear of Blanche's passing. She was such a special person to me. We worked at Gourmet Pantry together and she became so dear to me and my family and was a source of friendship for me during that time and for several years after. I regret not keeping up with her these past two years. She will be remembered in my house for my entire life. I pray for all of the family as I know a great light in your lives went out. Much love.

Oh I am so sorry to hear of Blanche's passing. I worked with her at the Gourmet Pantry and simply adored her. We kept up for a few years after I graduated from school and I always regretted losing touch with her and thought of her often. Prayers for the family, I am so very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. I didn't know her but everyone said she was the sweetest lady ever and her son Mark loved her more than life itself.
