Bob Thompson

Bob Thompson, age 90, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Trillium Woods of Byron Center. Bob was born September 30, 1924 in Iron Mountain, MI to Al and Ruth Thompson. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1941 and attended University of Michigan. Bob served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He worked for Dow Chemical in Ludington then owned his own insurance agency in Hart and retired from Hastings Mutual Insurance Company in 1986. Bob was a member of the Shrine and during his lifetime enjoyed skiing, boating, ranching, traveling, tennis and golf.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Terry (Janice) Thompson, Kendra Nicholas; grandchildren, Ryan (Missy) Nicholas, Todd (Jennifer) Nicholas, Michael (Jennifer) Thompson, Tara (Mark) Haener; 16 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, LaVone Cox, Louise Glaysher; nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, at Trinity Reformed Church, 712 Apple Ave., Holland, with Rev. Chris DeGraaf and Rev. Deb Yurk officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family prior to the service Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Trinity Reformed Church or Faith Hospice Trillium Woods.
