Bob Vegas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 10, 2024.
Bob Vegas, known to Chicago radio listeners of Mal Bellairs' WBBM morning "Music Wagon" show in the 1960's, passed away on Tuesday Sept. 24, 2024. He was born Robert Zabel in Chicago on July 13, 1939 and attended Taft High School and the University of Miami. A highly sought after vocalist, he was featured singer on The Josh Brady and Supper Club radio shows. His beautiful baritone thrilled audiences at Playboy Clubs around the country. In Chicago he won rave reviews for his night club act at the Pump Room in the Ambassador East Hotel as well as being the opening act for Sally Rand at Chicago's Cloister Inn on Rush Street.

After relocating to NYC in 1963, Bob was one of the featured vocalists in the RCA Pavillion at the 1964 Worlds Fair which led to a contract with Epic Records. Epic management gave him the new name of Robert Cameron. His recordings can be found on the Spotify app.
