Bobby Covert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 24 to Apr. 27, 2008.
COVERT Bobby Wayne II, 15, of Lexington, went to run with Jesus April 22, 2008. Bobby II was born Feb 11, 1993 to Bobby and Carmen Covert in Lexington, KY. He was the brother of Lauren Taylor Covert. He was recognized as a Lexington Young Achiever in May 2007. Accepting the award he was proud to say, "I'm an eighth grade honor student at LTMS. In the past 2 years I've been on the Honor Roll, a member of Beta Club, Academic Team, Math Team, Track Team and the 2005 All-County Honors Band. Recently, I was recognized by the People to People Leadership Summit and was sought by the Duke Talent Search based on high ACT scores. Outside of school I participate in the Crossroads Christian Church basketball leagues and Youth Group. I enjoy music, reading, distance running, travel, biking, volunteering for Habitat and numerous community organizations in addition to playing with my two Yorkies. Much of my spare time is spent mowing lawns with my father." Since then, Bobby II matured as a "McCallie Man" at The McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN. He was an Honors Scholar with a 3.6 GPA and lettered in Cross Country as a freshman. He loved his fellow runners and the volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, Church Under the Bridge, Transylvania All Sports Camp and numerous other organizations in Lexington. He had a growing interest in working with Hurricane Katrina victims. Bobby II always relished a challenge and lived with great passion. Bobby II is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and grandmother Charles Russell Covert and Agnes Taylor Covert. Additional survivors include: maternal grandparents Grace and Alan Perreiah; uncles and aunts, Paul and Bev Perrea, Peter and Diana Perreiah, Marty and Aunie Perrea, Scott and Brenda Perrea, Russell Covert; cousins, Andrew and Daniel Perrea, Diana and Reed Perreiah, Mathew and Sarah Perrea, Russ Covert. He will be missed by countless McCallie Men including Bart Wallin, along with Crossroads XSM Leaders Scott Morgan and Tim Stephan, the XSM Youth Group, lifelong school educators and administrators from Clays Mill and LTMS, friends, students, and neighbors and extended family from across and around the nation. Dear Bobby, Carmen, and Lauren,

We are still stunned at everything that happened to Bobby. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. My son, Faurest, went to LTMS with Bobby last year and they rode the bus together. His older sister, Rebekah Quinn, was in several classes and Colorguard with Lauren. If there's anything else we can do for you, please let us know. May God continue to comfort, guide, and bless you all.

Dear Bobby, Carmen and Lauren,

Your faith in the face of the most difficult of circumstances has truly been a witness and I know that same faith will continue to sustain you in the days ahead. It is evident by the outpouring of love from so many in our community that Bobby was truly a very special young man and his spirit will continue to live on through the lives he touched.

I'm pretty sure you don't know me, but I was a good friend of Bobby's from the Clays Mill days. Its funny what you remember, the games at recess, his jewelry 'business', and just hanging out eating popcorn in Mr. Sheets class. Of all these memories that we shared, I always knew Bobby was a great person and the best friend one could have.
He will be sorely missed by all.
Coverts, you will be in our prayers and God bless.

Bobby & Carmen, I can only imagine the pain you feel. I have had both you and your family in my prayers and I know that Bobby is in a much better place. There are not words that can really console a parent at a time like this but know that your friends love you and are there for you. I didn't know your son but I have known you both a long time and if Bobby was anything like the two of you, he was a very special person and God has a very special place in Heaven for him.

To the Covert Family:

My daughter, Asona, went to LTMS with Bobby and she spoke highly of him. She was remembering the days they shared at "Third Street Stuff" when she attended LTMS. Unfortunately, I didn't have the honor of meeting Bobby, but my daughter made me feel like I did. Our prayers go up for each of you and may God continue to bless and be with each of you during your time of bereavement.

I wrote this poem a while back and I would like to share this with you all. God Bless you
Losing a child, I know is so hard to bare
As long as you keep the Faith, God will be there

God has a plan for you, just trust and believe
Send your prayers up, and blessing you will receive.

God never gives one more then they can spare
As long as you keep the Faith, God will be there.

Try not to think of Bobby as being gone
Just think of him as an Angel that has been called home.

When you are down and out and can not bare
Keep your Faith in the Lord, and he will be there.

Do not frown upon him as he lay in eternal rest,
Just know & believe that God knew for him what was best.

Although, he will be missed, in your hearts he will remain
Just knowing that one day you will be with him again.

And we will continue to wear our "Bobby pins"
